I can shift out of park without pushing on the brake. I checked the switch to be able to shift without the brake and it looked ok. With kids in the car I worry about them bumping it out of gear. Is there a wire that sends a signal to shifter to unlock?

I followed a mysterious, small wire from my brake switch (above pedal), I think that's where the signal comes from.
