Think I just pulled a small screw out of the lower front(closest to the dashboard) and lifted it off ?

I was just in that area last night. If you remove the base plastic (the front part of the center console), there are several terminal blocks. Without looking at the FSM, my guess is that you unplug the terminal block and pull it out with the shifter.

I got it. Had to remove console and in plug blue connector and pull wire up and out. But now I have a new OEM leather shift knob good for another 250k

for anyone that may want to know, unscrew two very small philipps head screws from front of shifter lift up on knob, selector button(thumb) will fly across drivers floor then remove console(plastic cover) and remove at the base of the shifter towards back seat theres a blue connector block, disconnect and pull two white wires back out of terminal block this will allow you to remove OD selector up through shifter handle, install new handle and do everything in reverse. a NEW OEM leather shifter knob is awesome but pricey. I wanted it as the rest of the interior is slowly turning black and leather.

Shifter looks awesome, I'd love to just have mine recovered.
