Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to use Shells Oil Analysis?
I use Shell Rotella T syn oil.
$15 including shiping is a deal.

I don't remember what shop Cary uses, would I get the same results?

I stopped at JD and they don't do oil analysis. At least the Mauston JD dealer doesn't.

there are two "ShellCare" reports over at BITOG, they look fairly complete, I dotn knwo anything else about them or witch lab they use,

both I and Cary uses Blackstone Labs results are generally not comparable between labs because they use different techniques and calibration

most labs use (Blackstone included) spectral analysis, this only looks at extremely small particles this is enough to watch for trends and compare watch wear levels, there are more expensive processes that look at all material in the oil this can be useful for comparing filters

If your looking for another analysis option try Caterpillar. I have used them in the past several times with great results.

If you happen to use a company that does not normally come by your brand of oil talk to them. They are happy to take a clean sample for future baselines.
