All,

I am starting to procure a small pile for 180k service and was looking at serpentine belts in particular at this point of time. Any preference, any known advantages?

An Example: Bando 6PK2240 $16.38, Gates K060882 $24.43 on Amazon at the time of this writing.
After all, a belt is a belt, unless Toyota belts have some mystical superpowers.

Also, anybody kind to point me to pulleys for the belt, please?

TIA

I just R&R'd the original at ~65K. Replaced with Gates "heavy-duty" belt from NAPA. Green color on the outside, and definitely thicker. Iirc, ~$50-ish.

Confused by belt tensioners. Toyota 16620-0W101 ?

according to some matching engines is direct OEM fit, and some say no. 2004 LX470 is the recipient.
Thank you

P.S. Sorry for the redundant request: search here results in affirmative for the above part number. Apparently, it went through a redesign

Parts and numbers are in this thread from the FAQs. Toyota OEM can be bought reasonably priced from vendors on MUD, so I see no reason to use aftermarket.

90k service parts list

Press out your tensioner pulley bearing if going bad. You'll find replacement at NAPA or Advanced Auto $~7.00. I just order hood lifts & idler pulley from More Information for HAYDEN 5021 to spread shipping cost. The idler bearing pictures is same as OEM, I'll see soon if it really is. Other than that our venders here in mud are great. Go with OEM on most parts is best.

I've used the Gates green belts on equipment in the past. They are the best belt's I've every seen, last for every. But I can't speak to fitment for the 100, as I've never tried on mine.

That looks like a 4 Season pulley/picture. I bought a 4 Season pulley because of their bearing number in the picture is the same as OEM. It turns out it has 6203RS bearing. Very curious to see what bearing is in yours.

I'll send it back if not as pictured, if it is it's a great buy. Was the 6203RS the one that width is 2mm less?

The gates 36026 looks interesting also, but picture is not OEM bearing. If someone buys it I really like info from bearing on that one.

I like Goodyear Gatorback belts - have had good luck on our Avalon, Sequoia, and now LC.

..It turns out it has 6203RS bearing..

Not sure either. There is always a chance you might get the same part number that is not temperature rated or the seals are replaced with plate covers. Here is an example of 2 excellent specimen:

NSK6203ZZ - no seal, just cover

Nachi 6203-2NSE

re: Gatorbacks are history, it's Continental now [although there is enough old stock laying around]

6301 fits OEM pulley but it is 2mm narrower. My guess is 4 Season redesigned the pulley to use 6203RS.

Both 6301 and 6203RS are 12 mm in width. I haven't tried the 4 Season pulley out to see if I need a 2mm spacer.

I found the OEM bearing NSK BD20-15DUL years ago by going through the NSK USA distributor. The cost to have one shipped was not worth the effort. Every other bearing I've looking into just will not work well.

I can't wait to see this one I've coming. I did pick up a dealer pulley to have on hand, as my confidence level is low. The picture did not have a disclaimer, but it could have been barrier somewhere in their web page(s)

Idle Pulley/Bearing arrived from Rock Auto today, it is NOT as picture on their web page. It's the thinner width 6203RS, with wide bushing. Slight difference in the pulley end bevels. The offset is the same, as far as I can tell, as the OEM.

Dose 6203RS run quite and last a long time?

Brown is OEM. See the bushing protrudes on the 6203RS.

@2001LC not sure if you're still curious but I just fitted a Gates 36026 idler and the bearing is the same Japan NSK BD20-15DUL as the OE idler it replaced.
Along with a new serpentine belt I fitted a Gates 36119 tensioner pulley and it's bearing is 6203-88-21E China GBC 64. Might track down another 6203 and press that into the old OE pulley (its bearing is 6203LH NTN). Also found that OReilly's site lists the Gates tensioner pulley for an 03 LX as part #38001, which is a 90mm pulley, however the correct pulley for my vehicle is a 36119 which is 102mm in diameter. Their site has the 36119 as fitting 02 LXs so I suspect there's a bit of an overlap in parts, actual build dates and model years.

Very interesting thank you @PADDO. It's the first gates I've idler pulley I've seen. Was it a good price?

The tensioner pulley bearing seem easy to find from various manufactures. Which is best IDK, my NAPA 6203-2RSJ has been in for ~70K miles without issue.

The idler was $44 and tensioner pulley $19 - the tensioner pulley bearing had the faintest chirp and catch when held up to the ear and spun and the idler wasn't far behind as it was spinning too freely and had a little bit of a catch to it as well. Both original and approaching 160k miles in a 2003. No more chirping and squeal on start up.

Dealer wholesale price is ~$63 for idler (pulley w/bearing). Gates savings buys the tensioner bearing.

I like flushing power steering with M1 ATF along with replacing these drive belt bearings. It really makes a difference in noise level.

You've much better mileage than I got on factories. My high pressure washing have done mine in early, more than once. I've learned to keep the water off them. The seals on these bearing weaken and just aren't that great. Hit with high pressure water and they go bad fast.

I just went through the exercise of changing just the bearing in the OEM tensioner pulley. Super easy thanks in part to info provided by @2001LC.

I have a 2005LC:

6203 is the bearing size- universal number. The OEM bearing is a NSK 6203DUL1 which cross referenced to SKF 6203 2RS (J or H doesnt matter) which can be sourced at Napa for about $14.50. I pressed the old one out at home, took it to the local Napa that has a machine shop bought the new bearing there and had them press it in for me. I gave the guy $5 for pressing the bearing in.

Why do this? Its less about saving the $ as it s knowing that the OEM pulley is the right size. Also the OEM pulley was in great condition, a new OEM pulley and tensioner come as one component and is close to $70. So I spent under $20 to fix it and there no guess work with aftermarket fit or function. There are cheaper Chinese bearings, but SKF is an excellent brand with a good reputation- and I have had good service history with SKF over the years. The new bearing works great, and no more squeaky.

I pulled the seal off the old NSK bearing- and it was dry as death valley- looked like it was full of lint. I cleaned it repacked it put the seals back on and threw it the spares pile. Here's a pic of the spent bearing-

As for the Serpintine Belt: I installed a Continental Poly-V Elite belt: similar to the gatorback
