In my infinity and absentminded at the Pick and Pull, I grab this connector from a mercedes wagon (badges all gone, no idea of the model)

From what I have gather the bottom/base is model specific and the top changes depending on application and car model number.

For sure it has a lot of permutations..

In any case I need to run a bunch of light on my new land cruiser, Five Aux plus the standard and I'm hoping this one will do the trick, the problem is I have no freaking idea what wire does what..

list of lights.

Bumper.
Borg Wagner H4 capable AUX lights (Thanks Steve Glenn for this marvels) Never even found another set (Used) and new they where like $800, brilliant light pattern and the remote was wonderful but obviously fried in the rain.

On the other side of the Grill..

Ridgid Cubes, one set of floods, one of spots (filter just for fun, no idea what effect they produce..

I got them for a song, actually trade same Makita drills for them, apparently they are really good lights.

Roof platform.

Hella 3000 55Watt HID bulbs, paint pealing capabilities, Off road only for sure..

36" dual row flood/spot amazon light (I wish it was bigger but at the time I got it the plans where different (to install on my MOAB rack with bicycle stems)

Roof platform back side

El Cheppo LED square lights "Reverse" lights, well more like "Work lights" (Key off) mounted on a 3 axis Gimble" (my first motorcycle product from 1997) at the very outside corner of the 80-20 platform.

As always to advance for the time or in other words I suck at reading the market "Needs" but I just refuse to design for the "Minimum common denominator", the coextruded carbon tubes dampen vibration and in the case of a really horrible crash they Pulverize them self..

If the fall is not so horrible, the just slide on the mounts, 6mm allen and you are back in business, never a bend front sub frame like with most of the other ones.

Basically I don't WANT the "CHallenger " Cockpit, I need a single knob to control everything, from ALL LIGHTS ON, to all Floods or spots, to each On at the time.

Is this the right thing to do it with.. Please don't tell me a panel the size of a B52.

Wire diagrams will be great, a guide for dummies to use my FLuke and test what those what even better..

I made this very posting on my favorite motorcycle site and a very pleasant guy respond..

"58L-Parking Lamps Left
58R-Parking lamps right
N- Foglight Front output
NS- Foglight rear output
NSE- Foglight input
P30- Power input for left and right standing lamps
56- Power input Headlamps
K- Dashboard illumination
30- Battery power input
31- Ground"

Yep in Europe (or at least Germany) you use parking lights only on one side of the vehicle depending on which side is toward the road.
You will not be able to have ALL lights on at the same time if you wire them off of this switch as only certain lights are available in combination with others.

Another comment.

"I think you would be better off running a bank of relays with separate switches for each function. I don't know how many amps the Mercedes switch could handle, plus you can only run certain functions of the switch at certain times (i.e. front fog lights must be on to turn rear fog light on, headlights have to be on to turn fog lights on, etc)"

My answer..

Some wires will be wired at the bottom, most of them at the top, reason why for all the holes (in pairs and triads, so all drill be hand with out a center punch)

I like thing organize and clean and specially absent of any vibration, because racing rallies I have seeing a million electrical failures (most of the failures actually are electrical, not mechanical, the vibration just kills everything) that can be prevent it will a little of forward thinking..
IMG_8892-X2.jpg

Tip, Saab's uses really high end component, the car this parts came from was top of the line in terms of electrical, electronic installation..

I'm not even close to be done, first I'm still confessed what wire goes what direction, but I also need to secure the fuse holders (I'm going to slot a block of delrin to hold them down with zero movement) I just need to find the block first.

IF anybody has any input I will be really happy to hear it, so far the chosen location is on the left hand side of the steering column, you know down where the mirror control is on the 100 series, but I'm worried is a little far and hard to see, the second option on the flat panel of the dash, but mine is getting kind of busy as it is..

Maybe right under the second shiftier is sufficient space and will have much better access (where you see the four little bolts) it will be mounted flush to the surface of the panel (I made a bracket all ready, but the socker is deep and full of cables as you can see..
image-X2.jpg

This is not a bad place in terms of space but the hand access will be restricted
when in part and neutral, plus the crane for the galaxy, actually maybe is not so bad.

Soon I will start to "Bench connect" the wires and then build the harness to run them all (electrical pain, but the act of shielding the wires, wrap them on braided line,, close with vulcanize tape, using my fancy pneumatic ziptie wrench is a total pleasure (I got the tool from a Friend that used to install A-1 line for the Dot-comers in san francisco and if the zip ties are to tight the line slows down, so my top has a variable torque cutter.

Just thinking out loud...

Where can I get a Helicopter joystick, specially with a "Gun trigger" (so all the light come at the same time..

The gear shiftier is the most logical place to install the light control and joystick serves the same "dual function"..

Any hints...??? are the "restricted", Crazy expensive..??
