I bought this and did the following:

1981 FJ40, clean title, runs and drives great. I was going to continue with bodywork and paint, upholstery, but bought another FJ40 and selling this one. Basically all mechanical work has been done.

The work I have done:
Power wash engine
Plugs, wires, cap
Re-wire throughout
Roll Cage
New door handles
New cooling system (radiator, hoses, fan)
New exhaust system (muffler, tailpipe, etc.)
New oil (diff, trans, transfer case)
Replace all vacuum lines
New valve cover gasket
New tie rods
New Bilstein shocks
Total: $7,813 (parts and labor)

It is not, but I have a 15,000 mile 2F engine from 1976 if you are interested. The guy bought it when he bought this FJ40 in 76,

That motor is from my 76 FJ40 in my profile pic, not from the '81 - sorry for confusion.

Nice looking 40. When you paint are you still going to have diamond plate on it or will you be replacing it? Thanks
