As everything has taken three times as long as expected, I am hesitant to talk about time frames. But, given how close we are on the 100 series system and the fact that modifying it for the 80 shouldn't be that much work, I think they will be ready way before the fall. As far as weight, that sounds to be in the ballpark.

Need an 80 to fit the system in? I am in the south bay and don't daily drive my 80.

I'm in exactly the same boat and was hoping 1407's pricing might end up being lower than other options.

I'm in the market for some drawers right now. My use would be primarily as a storage / sleeping platform. Just looking for a pair side by side similar to the OS. I don't need the shelves, cargo barrier or kitchen/fridge slide. I would need some strong anchor points (L-track) across the top, preferably anchored into truck somehow and not just into the plywood top.

Not sure how they work, but the OS system uses the same drawers for the 80 and the 100 series, just different trim kits. It would be nice for your system to be compatible with both, as I am planning to move to a 100 after the 80.

Any idea on pricing and availability? I was seriously considering the AT drawers in birch, but like yours better, especially if comparable in price and designed for the 80/100 from the ground up and not a universal drawer system like the ATs.

I'd love to get you pricing that is lower than other options, but it just isn't possible. Maybe with mass producing in China, but I refuse. In my opinion we will have a far superior product that is made here in the USA. But it will cost more, I can't get around it. Perhaps in the future when I can buy more supplies in bulk, we can pass any savings along to you. I'm already many, many thousands into this project, with little hope of recouping the costs for a long time. To give you an idea- it wasn't very long ago that my cost to build 1 system was nearing 5 grand! That's with wholesale hardware pricing, etc. I've done a lot of work to cut those costs significantly without any sacrifice in quality, hence some of the time delays. After going through this process, it's easy to see why AT's drawers cost what they do, as well as the Outback systems. They are worth it, imo. But you get what you pay for. Mine will be more expensive than both of theirs, but I made a game-time decision to not just make another drawer option, but to make the high-end option. My opinion, of course!

I was just cleaning out my inbox and came across this link that I had sent myself. I really like the latest iteration, but going through the posts I didn't see any mention of cost.

Hey guys, just wanted to give an update. I installed the new system again. Yup, it's been in and out of the truck quite a bit. I'll be yanking it out again to do an install video. Unfortunately, I'm getting pretty good at it! Anyways, here are a few crappy cell phone pics. It's pretty much finalized, besides some product tags that I've been trying to get them to make right for about 3 months...

Thosse are awesome! Nice work!

On the pullout, how deep is it? The one on the left. I'm just wondering if its long enough for some foam and storage for one or two rifles?

Thanks guys. The shallow drawer on the left is 34"x13.5"x2.5", inside dimensions. You could easily store a broken down shotgun or rifle, or even a short carbine. It is lockable as well, and when locked you can still pull out the fridge slide so in camp you and the fam can have access to it without unlocking the drawer below, if you wish.

How much time does it take to pull out once installed? What is the minimum you have to disassemble to get it out?

You must be getting close to having pricing for this specific setup. Can you give us a ball park within $500 buck? Don't include shipping as it is different for everyone.

Thanks,

I won't talk pricing or sales things here, just trying to keep it tech. I'll be registering as a supporting vendor shortly and will start another thread about the business side of things.

Once installed, you'd just need to remove the cages and the right side drawer. That would give access to the 8 mounting bolts and the whole system would slide out. Probably 10-15 minutes and a helper to lift the system out.

I really like your single side wing metal supports! I put 3 small wooden supports on each side of mine and it really makes it a hassle to get stuff into those areas. Your single metal support makes the space a lot more usable. This is the system that has thought of everything, although I am sad to see that the bottle opener did not make the production version :)

Fear not, it will be an option:)

Thanks guys. It's nice to have all of your hard work appreciated by those who know what they're looking at!

Is it my lack of using I8mud lately the reason to view this new set up as consuing and not as user friendly as the prior version? Great drawers Dave and looking forward to seeing mine done as guineau pig

Correct, Rob. It's every bit as easy to use, even more so. Also easier to install and modify due to it's modularity. The improvements include the aforementioned as well as better wing storage access, and of course the super trick shallow drawer with work surface. Glad you like it!

Ok guys, while I'm working through final details before we go live, I'd love to get some opinions on the second model I'm working on. I know it will have a full flat deck on top, because that's what many folks like. The real question is whether you guys would like just a standard 2 drawer system to mount your own fridge slide, etc., or would you like to see the fridge slide incorporated into one side of the flat deck. Also, I could include the shallow drawer with work surface underneath like the current system. This would all add cost and some weight over just 2 drawers, of course. Opinions?
