2004 Lexus GX470
Dorado Gold Pearl Metallic

247,200 miles

I am the second owner. The first owner purchased the GX from Lexus of Bellevue. It had an impeccable service history with them and I have continued to maintain it myself (former Toyota Master Technician).

Recent service/maintenance items performed:
  • Lube, oil & filter change
  • Transfer case, front and rear differential oil change
  • New Napa battery
  • New engine air filter
  • New cabin filter
  • New valve cover gaskets
  • New spark plugs
  • New front brake pads and rotors
  • New rear brake pads
  • Coolant replaced last summer with Toyota SLLC pink coolant
  • Brake fluid flush
  • New rear hatch weatherstripping
I purchased the GX from the original owners with 203,000 miles. It has been used as both a daily commuter and for exploring logging trails in the Cascades and Olympics. It has visited the Prairies of Canada multiple times.

The good:

No leaks whatsoever!
Air conditioning (front and rear) blows ice cold
Extremely clean, inside and out

Everything works (but, see below)

The bad:

The radio has no sound. I believe the amplifier is bad

Has typical scrapes and battle scars common with a vehicle this age. Left mirror housing is cracked

Wheels are peeling and flaking

Occasionally some segments of the odometer fade. I will try to take a before/after picture of the actual miles versus what the odometer looks like when it’s being flaky.

Additional pictures posted on the CL ad.

$9,250

Hey. I'm in the market for a new truck. I currently have a 100 series but I'm now checking out the gx and 4runners for a more daily driver.

I'm not too familiar with the gx , do these have the AHC suspension? Sorry i see it now on the pic. The lx470 series folks have scared me about ahc failure however I hear when it's working it's the bees knees

How about rust, do rigs out your way stay pretty clean or is it showing it's age ?

Hi Mike,

GX’s come standard with adjustable ride-rate shocks and rear air suspension. Many people swap that hardware out for regular spring/over shocks and coil springs. We would have done that with ours until we decided to sell.

Rust really isn’t a thing out here. You’ll see clean, rust free trucks from FJ55’s to 100-series running around showing only normal wear & tear (parking lot dings, etc). Hope this helps!

Awesome thanks for the info . Is that suspension setup still currently working or do you expect switching over to something else is in the future ?

So it's air suspension, not like the hydraulic system on the lx470 ? Hmmm interesting

It looks like amps are a few hundred bucks on eBay , hopefully that would solve the radio problem.

I wish this rig was a bit closer to my location, it's hard to commit to something 8+ hours away.

Would you mind posting some body / engine bay pics ? Could message me directly if you prefer . Maybe a lack of rust + maintenance history can help make up for the distance away and higher mileage on the vehicle.

Is the engine due for a timing belt anytime soon?

It works flawlessly. I had only planned to switch it out to install a 2” lift. But our needs have changed and we’ll be getting a pickup…it’s a lot easier to haul stuff in a truck as far as bark, brush, topsoil than in the GX!

Yes, it is an air system on the rear only. It works great to self level when loaded with passengers, gear, etc.

I’ll happily send you more pictures once we’re back home this weekend.

Cool thanks. My wife is giving me grief about the high miles and all the stuff that could fail ( nav , air ride , etc.)
Im trying to explain how maintenance history is more important than miles , but this new car purchase started out as us buying a Corolla, a few weeks later and were shopping for four runners and v8s lol

I just realized our airport has cheap and quick flights to Seattle so this picking it up wouldn't be all that hard

>> Does it need any high dollar maintenance in the near future that your aware of ? Tires , brakes , t belt , radiator, etc. ?
>> Is this the non-vvti motor ?
>> Does the 04 have a sealed transmission / can't change fluid / check dipstick?
>> Does this have the fancy electronic brake booster like in the 100 series land cruiser ?
>> So no radio at all, does it have any sort of way to play audio or are all the speakers not working?

I want to keep this rig alive and give it another life but I'm not sure I can justify the cost. Are you up for hearing offers or do you expect it'll sell for asking price ?

Here another big question, does this rig need 91 octane fuel?

Sold! Thanks Mike! Sad to see it go but I know you'll give it a good home!

Thanks for meeting up with me

Drives great , way smoother than my overweight 100 series lol

Thanks for flying out! I hope you enjoy #120serieslyfe 🤣

Way classier than my 100 series. And who knows, maybe 20 years from now I'll own a 300 series =] lol thanks again, cya
