Hello All

Just checking to see what anyone has done as a seat swap in a 96 fj80 with leather, mine is kinda spent, don't want to recover and refoam it, too much money, plus a huge person had it before me and actully tweeked it a little bit, seems bent , any way, will fj100 seats covert over with a little work, or what about some real snazzy cloths of some kind.

And don,t right back and tell me to search, I would like to know the most current ideas.

Thanks in advance
Sethro

Curious here, so if someone posted an answer to this last week, that would not be current?

No, 100 seats don't bolt in, but that said, you can make other seats fit if you do some fab work. Swapping seats is rarely just bolting things in.

Covers are cheap and a good fit, but then again, that's not current...

no that would be last week, allot has happened since then

you always try to belittle others ?

And yes I can fab quit well.

That post was meant for YOU! if everyone searched all the time would there be any one posting?

Now that IS current.

oh and thanks for the answer.

Didn't say you couldn't. Your question mentioned someone tweaked it, but I guess I gave you too much information.

Congratulations! That is the point. The more searching there is, the less repeat questions there are. It's not an issue that people have the same question, it's only a problem when they are too lazy and expect others to repeatedly spend their time answering their questions. An example is the front end rebuild. There are a lot of great posts with part numbers etc that folks have spent a lot of time on. Asking someone to continually spend that valuable time answering someone that is too lazy to search is just being selfish and lazy. Plus, if a search is done, and there is an extension of the thread by posting an additional question onto the existing thread, then that thread is that much more helpfull to the next person that reads it. It's not about belittling you. I'm sure you can get that at home. :flipoff2: It's about helping people by making this as helpfull as possible.

Thank you Junk for that great piece of wisdom. Oh and Sethro...take it easy...there are plenty of things in your post he could have belittled you on, but didn't.

We're all adults...right?

Hello All

96 fj80 with leather...fj100 seats

Sethro

Sethro,

The '96 is an FZJ-80. The FJ-80 was only produced in 1991 and 1992. The 100 series is a UZJ-100... no more FJs after '97 I'm afraid! My local Toyota will recover your leather for around $800 for the whole vehicle...so I'd guess much less if you only need the fronts. Used 100 series seats would most likely be in the neigborhood of $500 each.

I'd look for some Lexus LX450 seats or maybe 40th anniversary seats. My 94 has the factory cloth and I love them. I'm hoping to steal those seats for the the 91 and get some new seats for the 94. Lexus car seats as well as BMW seats have been considered. Wouldn't mind the Celica seats either. One thing to consider is to get a seat with a low seat bolster. Sliding in and out all the time just tears the bolster up.
