Seat Repair

I got an estimate of anywhere between $75 and $100 to repair the seat on the '94 LC I used to own. Got the estimate from an automotive upholsterer. Prices varied depending on how long they estimated for the time to remove the seat and the leather to make the repair.

You're gonna want to do something about it soon -- it will keep unravelling and it will get worse.

Anyone had their front seat completely recovered? I'm thinking of rebuilding/replacing some of the spring/suspension components in the front seats as well as the nonwoven stuffing materials. The company I work for makes both of them. While I was at it I was thinking about replacing the leather. Gotta be spendy?

The seat bottom leather on the LX is removable, I had mine come loose at the corner, there is a plastic strip sewn around the edge that is captured only by seat bottom tension, I took the seat out and just slid it into place

I have heard LC owners talk about metal clips so that may be a LX/LC difference

...my quote was right at $2K

I went to my local automotive upholsterer and he mentioned that you can buy a whole set for 1.1K It included all the seats. Seems like there are 3rd part companies that just mimick the pattern and sell it as a compete replacement set...then you just put it on.

For that price you'd be better off buying TRD Land Cruiser seats and installing them.

Nice.....if they cam in Oak, I'd consider it! I'll stick with the ones I got from Ebay...:-) what a deal! Only took me 2 months to get the smoke out of them! (burn....not cigarette)

Eric,

I think it's time to update your road atlas. A lot's happened since 1989......:-)

Funny, I want to do the opposite. I would figure swapping leather for cloth should be cheaper?

Eric, did they also swap out the inserts in the door? Also what did they do about the arm rests?
