Sorry if this is the wrong area. I just purchased an 88 FJ60 and I'm just getting my feet wet. I noticed that the driver's seat is bent a bit to one side. Which will be a problem for my back. Not looking to reupholster, just fix the seat. Any help appreciated!

find a good used one.

3 pups is probably right - if you don't want to reupholster and you're not going to do it yourself.

The seatbacks bend because the spot-welds on the tube frame break. To fix you'll have to remove all the upholstery anyway, so you'll be paying for all that labor just to put the worn out cushions back on.

But to answer your question: Nacho's Upholstery in No Hollywood is very good, but I haven't been there in many years...

Does the seat rock a little bit? Do you here a click or a clunk when rocking it. It is not uncommon for the spot welds to break free. I can weld it for you. PM me for my info.

^^ This. That's a nice offer. Get it welded. It's not hard to un-upholster a seat, and it's a good opportunity to clean the fabric while you're in there.

You should try to check out a google search for auto repair shops in LA. You can also buy a new seat if you have the budget.

Thank you. I've heard of Nachos actually. Maybe I'll just full out and get new seats. Do you think he could match the interior pretty close?

If anybody could, Nachos can. TLC4x4 used to have their upholstery work done there, but I think they've moved that in-house. Last I checked, the father (elder Nacho) was still running the business.

Depending on how close you want the new seats to match, you might have to source the fabric yourself... There are aftermarket replacement seats available, and if you search, there are some threads of people using rebuilt BMW seats which look pretty good. I like the stock seats, and at some point I will remove my seats and take them over there and have both rebuilt/reupholstered with the available Marine-grade vinyl and then throw some cheap seat covers over that so I don't get swap-ass during summer :grinpimp:

I all depends on how much you want to spend (doesn't it always?).

Good luck.
