Looking for guys who have done the swap and not gone huge. My daily driver is in need of a lot of front end work and considering just doin the swap but I’m not into ladders to get in the cab and tailgates too high to use. Any pics and info is appreciated, thanks guys.

Sorry like my IFS so no SAS for me but internet google search showed a surprising amount of hits. I would just google search Toyota T100 solid axle swap.
Good luck to you and I hope you have fun time and enjoy your project.

I’m picking up an fj80 axle this weekend for a hopeful future swap from what I’ve found most of the guys that have done this did it long ago and don’t reply anymore. I’m hoping I can keep it low but big enough to run 35s.

From what I have read the Chevy Dana 44 is much simpler to swap but I’m definitely interested in how it works for you. Why did you choose the 80 axle?

I had a line on one for cheap but decided against it for now because of to many projects already and a baby on the way so moneys tight. The reason I had picked the 80 axle is the availability of parts, it's a passenger side diff just like the t100, I already have a set of springs from an 80 I was hoping to use to keep it low and seems like in stock form they are a bit more beefy than the 44. If I don't end up with a SAS then I'll eventually go to LT. Either way eventually the front end will be receiving major upgrades right now im not happy with how much it wanders for how much I've replaced and the ride is really pretty rough for no TB cranking with BJ spacers.

My ride quality is garbage too but I was thinking it’s just worn out parts. Virtually every suspension component is worn out. I just had my 3rd kid a couple weeks ago so I understand, fat chance at me fixing things let alone SAS.

I’ve done wheel bearings, pitman arm, idler arm, new warn hubs, shocks, and cv axles. I priced up all I want to do to my front end the other day and I think I was at about $600 for both upper and lower bjs, uca and lca bushing, steering stabilizer, and replacing the torsion bars with arb. I’m hoping if I replace them with arb I can re-index them enough to be able to crank and eliminate my rubbing issues and improve my ride.

That’s pretty much the whole list I have to do, plus my rear springs. Then I just wondered if it needs that much work and money, maybe SAS. I daily drive mine though so it can’t be too tall and it needs to be good. A pair of Chevy axles come cheap it’s mostly steering clearance I wonder about

I may be going back to it after all. My front diff took a crap on me this morning I think 4wd wouldn’t work still need to drain it and see
