Hi Mud!

I'm putting Land Cruiser roof rack rails on my LX (replacing the shorter LX rails with the longer Land Cruiser ones).

I ordered and have the new "seals" (thin, self adhesive gaskets) for the front and rear attachment points. These are p/n 63437-60020.

The center attachment points also have this same kind of seal... but I can't figure out what the part number is (and the FSM doesn't even seem to show them). Worst case, I could adapt some of the 63437-60020 seals to work, but I'd rather have the proper fitting part. Any suggestions?

Picture below.

Thx!

Thanks @bloc... but those are the part numbers for the larger "cushion" pieces.

I'm actually looking for the much smaller (1-2mm thick) "seals" that go between the cushion and the center roof rack leg. Or, I could just re-use the seal that there's, but they look compressed/worn and I'd rather replace them.

Thx!

I used your 63437-60020 number to find the correct diagram and part. The system I have access to doesn't show an equivalent part on the middle legs. Are you sure there is one there currently and something like the cushion doesn't handle sealing duties? Usually these diagrams are quite accurate.

curious about why you are doing it.
i agree the stubby lx rails are pretty useless...no place to loop a hold down rope!
but why are you not just adding a big overland roof rack, that instead screws into the roof rack attach holes?

I’ll let OP answer for themself, but I had the same decision to make. Ultimately I decided I didn’t want the extra aero drag or noise 24/7, nor to drill the extra holes in the roof that most of the racks require.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for two extra cross bars for a while now to make the stock rack more versatile and stronger.

it would not be a bad idea to have four cross members. that would almost be the same as an expedition roof rack.
you DO have to torque each crossmember down well, as there is really not that much bite on each compression connection! i actually have a tiny torque wrench in the back hatch door in case one gets loose (a real torque wrench, not the joke plasticy one toyota ships with the cross members)
