Hello,
I am currently planning on covering the dirt floor under my house with plastic sheeting and sealing it against the concrete foundation. Has anyone ever done this? What plastic and how thick did you go? Thanks!

Normal for here is 6mil visqueen. Some people insulate the foundation walls with foam board too.
Thank you, I'll check that out!

Clear 6 mill reinforced visqueen is what we use in South Dakota for our new construction houses as well. Then we cover with washed clean rock (so no dust 3/4 limestone gravel basically)

The visqueen has reinforced fibers on a cross pattern so it doesn't get holes in it easily. I think we get 16' or 20' wide rolls of it.

Follow the building code for your area; also consider energy efficiency as noted above, insulation is a good thing.
Radon gases are bad, coming into buildings via unsealed basements and crawlspaces, that is why the requirement for 6-mil visqueen.

Thanks I will do that. House was built in 1906 and I find stuff all the time that should be addressed. Between it and the cruiser I will never be without a project. Hahaha

What would we do if we didn't have another project? And another project?
Reminds me, I need to add insulation in the attic before summer, too hot to do it then!
