I was watching OTRAMM’s video on the updated oil pump cover gasket and saw he put “sealer” around the outside of the gasket. What kind of sealer is used here? I found a few gouges where the seal is placed and think it is best to add a sealant here to ensure these gouges do not cause a leak later.

I just reread your question, are you asking about the crank seal or the o-ring? Crank seal I use FIPG, the o-ring I use assembly grease to hold it in the groove.
I was talking about he gasket around crank that I is behind the harmonic balancer.n non your video you say you put seal and around the outside of the gasket and assembly lube around the inside of the gasket. I was just trying to figure out which sealant to use around the outside of the gasket. What you used in the video was grayish.

We may have been out of FIPG when I shot the video. Toyota oil pan FIPG is what I usually use.
