Just picked up two 8274's today. I have never owned this model and uncertain of it's operations which I'm sure are the same.

What are some things to replace? What parts should I inspect since both our used. One of them isn't functioning but Daniel at wimberley said it was a solenoid. Anyways, would like to pick your heads on this winch.

Thanks!

8274 is the grand daddy and what I consider to be the best offroad winch there is. Large spur gears, in an oil bath. It doesn't use a clutch brake system like most winches so no clutch to wear out. The gearing makes it an exceptionally fast winch. All in all it is a stout system that is considerably more robust than a modern 9,000lb winch. Additionally the 8274 has 150ft of cable compared to 100ft on the new slimline Warn models.

As for the solenoid, you can still get parts from Warn.

I can order everything you need to rebuild it just need to know what you need ... I may even have spare solenoids

I probably need to take the extra winch off your hands to help you out. Make sure you contact me first if you need to part with one.

Ask Tucker if you have questions, he just rebuilt his and it looks awesome.

Lol okay, but Tucker spoke up before you. I doubt I'll sell. I'll probably hoard it after I rebuild both or attempt to!

I was checking out tickers thread today, pretty amazing!
