I am about to change out the fluids in my diffs and t-case. I thought it was a good time to switch to the allen magnetic plugs while I am at it. Got a couple of questions that search didn't help me find.

1) Are the diff and t-case plugs the same size?
2) Where do I use the plugs with the long magnet and the plugs with the short magnet?
3) What are the part numbers to each plug? My local dealer said they didn't have them so I am going to have them special order them.

Thanks guys!

I can't remember #1, but here's what I have for part numbers.

10mm allen plug short magnet
90341-18021

10mm allen plug long magnet
90341-18035

24mm bolt short magnet

90341-18057

24mm bolt long magnet 90341-18040

You'll want the long magnet for the drain. and the short magnet (or no magnet) for the fill bolt.

Edit: sorry for the weird formatting - I cut and paste from my spreadsheet.

Thanks for the fast reply! No worries, I was able to understand it. The 24mm is the factory hex plug correct?

All the threads are the same m18x1.5

The short magnet 10mm Allen ones are what we stock and use for everything, so you could just get six of those. The long magnet ones only fit certain drain spots, so we don't bother

What technique do you folks use to get the old aluminum washer off the magnetic fill/drain bolt 90341-18057?

It's stuck on there tight so I had to spend an insane amount of time just chewing through the aluminum washer to get it off. Thanks!

Replace it regularly, and don't overtighten.

Top is the non mag filler bolt on truck. Bottom is mag drain bolt with the mangled aluminum washer. Didn’t bother trying to get it off. Even the top one is a pain. Simply doesn’t move.

Luckily found two of these in stock at Glendora Toyota of all places. Else in Toyota parts warehouse in LA somewhere. OCD kicked in so drove out there to pick up before close.

I used both mag bolts for fill and drain with new aluminum washers. Unless I discover an EZ button to get these washers off, I’ll just be ordering new ones for TC fluid swaps. I torqued at 27-28 ft lbs.

The diffs were much easier with the recessed allen head bolts with the steel washers.

Wits End has all of these plugs w/ an Allen head. Way better than finding a 24mm wrench or just using crescent cuz a 24mm is a big a** metric wrench that most people just don’t have . . .

I have those for the diffs. These were totally simple for even a .01 banana like me. 24mm socket and done. But getting those aluminum washers off is a pain in the arse for a .01 banana mechanic like me.

Harbor freight that 24mm, just did it today. Went to the local toyo dealer to get some washers for those plugs, picked a 10 pack of those washers for $15.00. Filled it with Valvoline 85w-90. This was part of a double job for me as I had some fluid drain out when I did my actuator replacement. Piece of mind to fill it back to fsm requirements.
