Schofield Pass... In an LC200...?

I grew up in Glenwood Springs, my previous (2008) LX went over Schofield a couple of times on the stock Dunlops and probably a half dozen more times with proper rubber. The steps by the punchbowl can be intimidating but the wheel base of the 200 makes it pretty easy. Is Slow Groovin BBQ in Marble still around? That place is/was amazing
Yep. Slow Groovin is still there.

Congrats! I grew up in the area and just recently moved to ID. There is a really neat way to connect some logging roads and 4X4 trails from Paonia to Glenwood and a bunch of other lesser known routes out there that don't see quite the traffic Schofield, Pearl, Taylor, etc do.

If you are a mountain biker you just moved to Heaven. The 401 Trail is one of my favorite rides in the whole country, but there are a million other amazing routes there.
Agreed. Pearl is a great trip too.

I've lived in Mt CB for a year now. It blows me away that with all the Texans here, no one has opened a good BBQ place. Heck part of the reason to run Scofield is to eat at Slow Groovin.

Good idea to run from Marble to CB. It just sucks having to drive 2.5 hours to get over to the trailhead.

If anyone wants to make this run, let me know!

I'll be back in November to do RimRocker. Montrose to MOAB. Welcome to join our group.

Hit me up for sure. Most of November I'm sitting around waiting for the mountain to open up for Skiing, and hiking/snowshoeing around that time is a bit rough.

I use to live in CB but now Im in Denver. I have done pearl a few times in my 16' LX and I have gone out to the Crystal Mill from Marble but not over the Punchbowl part. From what I understand the very tight boulder area that scared me out of doing it has been either removed or made easier. I have seen pics of 200's on Scofield. I am heading out there for the first week of Oct and Im hoping to do a couple trails around there.

Everything is easy until life happens. This nice guys had to backup and lost his bearings earlier this week.

Everyone is fine and truck is fine but the puckering was real.

Backing up a long ways on a shelf road is a (literal) pain in the neck. Glad everything worked out ok here.

Truth. The biggest challenge of Schofield IMO is not the obstacles but navigating the 2 way traffic. I much prefer it on a dirtbike than the 200.

So, I ran Scofield to Marble (via punchbowl to lead king) today with local (and I think Mudd member) Nick L in his Tundra. All in all a non-event. The fat girl fit no problem between the two pinch points. I did lightly use my skid bump out to get through the pinch at the top of technical bit heading down to the bridge. As expected traffic management was the biggest pain, but totally doable. It was a fun run, and the barbeque at Slow Groovin was a great way to end.

Going to do the trial early Friday crystal mills to crested. Wish us luck
GL!

Once you get to the bridge, check that no-one is coming down the rocky hill, or is queued up at the top head down. I would not want to try and have any passing happen on that hill. You'll know it when you get there.

We ran it from marble to CB after a heavy rain the night before.
Had to make a friend with a jeep coming down the hill and winch at waypoint 5 but we had a blast!
If you run this trail a lift, skids and sliders are a must.

Chris, we'll be there this Tuesday-Thursday in a built up 100 series if you would like to run it again! Would you recommend going up from Marble or down from Schofield? I was considering going around on Lead King and coming back to CB up Devils Punchbowl/Schofield. I figured it might be easier going uphill and there might be less traffic going East

Unfortunately I've got a lot going on work-wise this week, as I'm heading to LCDC the following week. So I don't think I'll be available. I'll hit you up if things change.

TBH, I'd rather rather head up the Hill to have the right of way (so Marble to CB).....HOWEVER nothing tastes better than Slow Groovin after long trip, so I'd probably go to Marble.

I’ve seen it’s potentially worse this year good luck and be safe
