I was planning on carrying this can on my roof strapped down on its' side. When I tried to do that it began leaking fuel. I ended up putting it in the vehicle and keeping all the windows down. Not a great solution. Any idea why this thing would leak? I do not have one of those wrenches but I cranked it down with a strap. The gasket appears to be in good shape. There is also some sore of vent that comes out around the mouth of the can. Any help would be appreciated.

Man, I am going to feel like an idiot. Maybe I need some new glasses. I looked on the inside of the cap and saw the raised edge and thought it was a gasket sitting in there. Now that I see the picture I realize there isn't one in there :censor:

I checked the link above. They make an aluminum flange. Is one flange better than the other? They show to be out of stock on the plastic flange.

I dropped the dime on the aluminum mainly because I've had plastic flanges go out (specifically the raised edge you referred to) and that is no fun. Now aluminum flange with fresh gasket and no worries.

Where did you order gaskets from??

I strongly recommend the wrench. The diesel spout is the best option

I wanted to update this thread to save the next guy some potential embarrassment. The picture in my first post is what it looks like without a gasket. Here is what it looks like with a gasket.

I received my gasket/flange today from the company mentioned above. It was very nicely packaged and appears to be well made. I oiled up the new Viton gasket and installed it. Thanks @leucadiacruiser for the tip on ordering a flange. Mine was cracked when I removed it.
