Couple different reasons- 1) The ARB touring rack was rather loud even at low speeds and it covered about 80% of my sunroof. I never bought one but ARB makes a wind deflector that Im sure would cut back on the wind noise. 2) Im a big fan of GOBI and had been waiting on the GX stealth rack/ladder to be released for months, made sense to make the jump.

Side note- The ARB was a little easier to mount a RTT on and was more useful for hauling large/oversized items since you could use it like a truck bed. With that said, no regrets switching to the GOBI.

Cheers,

Thanks for the input. I just finished my suspension upgrade with icon coilovers and rear shocks and springs. I also replace the upper control arm with the aftermarket tubular control arm from icon. What else did you have to do in order to get your camber back to factory? right now I'm looking at about 25 inch clearance from the wheel well to the wheel hub in the front and 24 in the back.

Nice build! Quality parts!

rcprew01, you just need an alignment.
I've had an alignment already but they were unable to get the camber within tolerance. It still drives decent but I wanted to know if there was anything additional I can do to get the camber back within factory spec.

@rcprew01 I'd find a more knowledgable shop that deals with oversized tires, you should be able to get a proper alignment with that setup. I've even had luck going to an RV shop before if you don't have that many shops around.

I agree, they might not even know you have adjustment cams on your lower control arms. They probably just set the Toe.

The RCI sliders look great. I've added them to my short list of upcoming mods.

@ElliottB @TheJapalian Thanks guys, the sliders are actually made by CBI. It was a custom order and I had them add the flat top plate to act as a step, I'm not really a fan of the traditional rounded bar sliders at an angle and also worried about my dog's leg getting caught. As far as the height, having the sliders sit a tad lower allows me to fully plant my foot on them and not have to tip toe around if that makes sense- Clutch when opening/closing the roof top tent and such, still plenty of protection.

Some interior updates from the past month or so-

Hey Scatt, I had a question about the Gobi rack. I was looking at some ARB awnings to mount to the Rack but I couldn't find any dimensions on the Gobi rack. I was looking for the length of the rack to order an awning that wouldn't exceed that length. Could you help me out with that info?

Thanks!

@rcprew01 I have the ARB 2000 sized awning and I think its the perfect length for the GX. I'm currently not near the truck but I can get you some exact measurements Sunday. Not perfect but here's a picture for reference of it mounted on the GOBI.

Cheers,
Thank you! I think I'm gonna go with the Gobi but was wondering if I should go 2M or 2.5M for the awning. Could you also let me know what hardware you used to mount the awning? Did you buy brackets or make them, could you post pics?

Thanks for your help!

The Gobi measured roughly 82 inches in length. I personally think the 2.5M would be too long but if you want the extra coverage then go for it! I used Gobi's awning attachments but Im sure if you're crafty you could fab up your own brackets.

Wow, this is my 2nd favorite GX in San Diego :beer:

Dang we need to get a GX meet going, seems to be quite a few of us around!

Havent updated the build in a while;

CBI aluminum front, mid and t-case skids;

1942058

New OEM lower control arms, originals had 209k miles and we're clapped out, also replaced bushings on the uca's;

1942059

Refined Offroad's fire extinguisher mount;

1942060

Android headunit installed, nice to finally add navigation. Pretty impressed with it so far but I've only had it installed for a week or so;

@ebbs15 It's an MicroNavi Android headunit from AliExpress, I ordered the 8 core 32gb Canbus version. You will also need to order a Y splitter for the stock antenna's along with a converter that downsizes one of the antenna cords to fit the Y splitter. Search GXOR on facebook for additional help as Im not that great with audio stuff. Here's a link to the product;

Awesome unit but it looks to be for non-nav units. Thanks for the link.
