So, I have the 350 tacked in, but the front diff seems really close, especialy where the front drive shaft should go.

Can I get one or two of you to measure a couple places for me? Please?

1. From the last oil pan bolt (at the back of the engine) to the inside of the frame rail, Passenger side, and drivers side. Mine is at 9" each.

2. From the block to the bottom of the oil pan.

I'm wondering if I need to find another pan. This one is for a '96 truck. Maybe one from an earlier model should be used.

Thanks for your help. I will offer a complete writeup with some pictures when I am done.

Oil pan is about 8 inches or so. My frame rail measurement is about the same as yours; about 9 each.

Yup. I'll snap some. What do you want exactly (I have limited posting ability)? I have a mild lift; just enough to clear 33's without rub. No SOA; although I could have used it at moab for sure.

I'm maxed for pics right now, and the front shot doesn't do it justice anyway. It looks snug because it is. Hope it helps. Let me know if you want the front shot and I will delete this one and add it.-JJ

That looks about right. Is there a way to take one that is looking down the drive shaft? Thanks, you are very fast. I will host this pic so it stays in the post.

Been a while since I had a V8 (carbed) but the oil pan looked nothing like that. I had PLENTY of clearance as well- hitting the oil pan never even came up during placement because it was a non-issue with the older style pan.

my pan hasplenty of clearance, even when i was collapsed to 1/8th in. off the bump stops....but that looks nothing like my oil pan, pretty sure my pan is from a 70's gm 4wd pickup. the truck pan does not flare out to the sides and has a gentle down slope in the front, not squared off like that.
sorry i have no camera.

Sorry; had to go to work.

It would not shock me at all to find out the guy who did the build used a camaro engine or vette. I know the p.o. that I bought it from had the cam swapped out for an rv to lower the torque curve. The guy who built it was in cali, so it saw highway use I think. It would explain the odd shaped pan. One of these days I'll run the casting numbers and find out.

Here's a shot down the hole. Let me know if you would like another.-JJ
