I just picked up a friends unfinished 1970 fj40 trail project. As the title states, it currently has a sbc 350 and th 400 trans with a reverse manual valve body. The trans is mated to a 3 speed toyota transfer case using an AA adapter. Looking at the t case, it sits as low as the diffs. The rig will be used for rockcrawling and I don't think I am going to get very far the way it is currently setup. I need some ideas on getting the transfercase up and out of the way. I have no problem ditching the lc transfercase and adapter. What are my options?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. The t case would have to come up aprox 6" to be where I want it. This in turn would tilt the motor into the radiator. I guess I could redo the motor mounts. The other issue that I am seeing is the front driveshaft is very close to the trans pan. If the rf wheel is stuffed, the shaft will hit the pan.

Yeah, I just picked this thing up last week. I think I will unbolt the t case and trans crossmembers and see how far up the unit will go before things get tight in the engine bay. I would rather work with what I have but I dont want to spend money on driveshafts and then be unhappy with t case to gound clearance.
