Say hi to Luther

Just a quick followup to some of the looking around I've done. Prices for used are approaching obscene. They have gone up 21-29% on average in just a year and are still rising. For a 200, that translates into many thousands of dollars. Working on the rust will be 0 fun, but don't think for a minute there are any market areas, dry or not, where ".....prices of these are lower.....".

Agreed - that's why I asked if someone knew something that I didn't haha. If they continue to rise, Luther just might find another home to go to.

Hey buddy, im sorry about the state of your LX so please dont take this the wrong way but Luther has terminal cancer.

As someone who has been there and done that, just walk away now.
Everything you do from here on out will cost 2x as much, take 5x as long and be 10x as frustrating.

Get rid of it while the getting is good.

This is a ridiculous bunch of statements. Most every car in the northern states and Canada look the same or worse. Sure, it is a bit rustier than your average Washington vehicle. But no one up north would consider that ‘terminal’. Not sure where you get your numbers from, but my Alaska based 100 is rustier than this and there is no up charge for repairs. Sure, might be harder to do your own work but a repair shop knows how to deal with it. That truck has a good decade or 2 left in that frame.

Lol tell them to get the torch ready.

Based on your use case, coat the bottom with fluid film each year and you’ll be totally fine. Lots of folks out here will recommend an insane amount of elbow grease to restore it. Screw that.

Seal it as is with a fluid film O2 barrier and perform routine maintenance on it.
Amen

I’m not sure what I’m looking at here but it’s gonna need more than fluid film.

The real King in the North wasn't Jon Snow, it was Rusty Bolts. I sold off all my oxyacetylene and drums of penetrator oil when I left NY.

That's a savable vehicle, they all look similar to that at 13 years in the NE.
