I just got my sat nav update dvd from the dealer. Straight away I notice the 2011 LC is not listed as one of the vehicles it is suppose to work on. Oh well, I open it and slide it in the player and it tells me no files found, then it says reading disc.

Now, if this thing is the correct dvd, shouldn't it prompt me to an updating mode? I surely do not want to load this disc everytime I go on a journey.

I am a novice at sat nav, so can someone let me know if I am doing it wrong?

don't have the whole answer, but I know that the drive you are looking for is in the glove box.

The drive is in the glovebox. Just pop out the current disk and insert the new one. The rest should be magic.

What model years does the disk say it supports? There are two different nav system models in the 200, but I don't recall which year they changed over to the new system.

Thanks for the info guys. The LC is not even listed on the vehicles the update supports. Should be getting back tonight to see if this disc works.

Do you have the part number? I can check and see if you have the correct disc. Also, as other people have stated, you don't just stick it in the CD slot like a regular disc. Some have players behind the glove box, under the seat, and some are in the head unit but have a separate slot for the Nav DVD.

Nav up date

I have a 2010 with 25k miles that I just purchased last month. I got the update disc from the Toyota dealer and installed it. The screen showed the grayed out display as though I was under way and would not let me enter anything and when you looked at the map data screen it was stuck in the Pacific Northwest area with no way to change the zones.

I got smart and decided to reboot it by disconnecting the battery and restarting from scratch. The system locked up and I got a black screen with a message to see dealer. NO AC controls or radio nothing associated with the screen worked. Drove fine but nor really safe to use with no defroster etc.

Dealer unable to do anything and replaced whole nav computer! (said 7k, but under warranty) Put the same disc in and still would not switch zones or allow address entry but we did not disconnect battery. Parts guy checked with someone and the Nav disc listed in the parts dept computer is apparently not compatible with LC200. We switched to different disc and it works perfectly. The disc that works is labeled U 94 North America. I can't remember the numbers on the wrong disc.

Beware of this issue, don't leave the dealer till your system works and don't get smart and disconnect battery to attempt a reboot. Maybe Courtesy Toyota in Orlando will inform the national distributor but be careful of this update!

Sorry but I didn't write down the numbers on the disc that did not work but it was the one the parts counter computer said would work. The receipt for the disc that did not work has part no...86271-GEN05-12 2012 CY NA. But I could never be sure if they just grabbed the wrong one from the bin or was it mis-labled when wrapped in the bubble wrap. They just switched to the one that works and I never got another bill so no receipt.

So, don't leave till your disc works and don't interrupt power while nav is stuck!

Ok changed it out today. It was the U 94 update and the drive was in the glovebox. Just popped out old one out and loaded new one. Easy mode. Thanks for everyone's help. I would have never found that drive. Sure it was listed on sat nav manuel, but who reads that? :)
