who where and when is going to do the first SAS on one of the FJ cruisers? Someone out there has already got to have this going on. IF I had the budget, it would already be done. C'mon. Let's do this! Any feedback, ideas, solutions? Who is doing this?

oh here we go.........:)

well if you have the bucks and don't care about road manners---do the FJ your way.

or of course you could just buy a nice rig. like a rubi.:bounce2: with your SAS and skip the drama

but you miss out on the Cool factor and Toyota reliability. Which in my books are fairly important specially reliability.

hehe..yeah throw the warranty out the window, get ready for another 6k at the least not to mention the time to get it tweaked to work right.

Now you have a heavy high lift toyo that will suck on the road----oh but your crawl ratio sucks--so you will have to drop another 4k to somehow make room for and buy the crawl box---drivetrain warranty is gone of course.

you end up with a 40k rock crawler with questionable suspension and drivetrain. Oh but wait you need alot of other aftermarket stuff bigole winch etc, so you are more like 47k.

you have destroyed the resale on your rig in the process.

why not just buy an FJC and tow your samurai to the hairball rocks.

In my case I'll take my KTM or my Gasgas.....no spotter needed.

jesus, i thought the 80 owners were wound tight

:flipoff2:

I'm going to buy an FJC and do an IRS conversion. Getting rid of that pesky solid rear axle will make the FJC handle even better.

That way uhoh7 and I can brag about how awesome FJC's handle compared to solid axle rigs.

Show 'em pics of your bike uhoh7. That will change everyone's mind.

Don't forget the matching outfit you stud.

it may be pricy, but I am sure a couple of currie built axles stuffed with arb's and a low-low tcase will do the fjc just right, its all a matter doing it right which is just a function of money and talent (none of which are within my reach). I am just crossing my bloody fingers so my stock options hit the watermark and I will definitely do it. I like the IRS idea too, just add rear steering and use all humvee parts, it should be a good rig. I think SAS would be cheaper though really, than all independent.

I have a SAS convertion planned. Long term though.

First I am going for a lift, tires, rims, bull bar, piaa lights, hihglift , reinforced skidplates(gas tank, transmision and maybe an exaust one) . Rear bumper, rock rails, and steel tubes going where those black "fender" things are right now which will connecto to front bull bar and rear bumper, and recovery equipment. I figured this will run me for about $5000 about 4 months worth of working. Then after that I play the waiting game till I pay off the FJC and SAS here I come
