Months of planning is coming together. Just a sample of cool things coming to SAS 8. Year 8 shirts arrive next week.
Ready for some quality time with our extended family in the San Juans. See y'all in a few weeks.

Super Cool!!!

We look forward to this time with our Cruiser Extended Family!

I know that our household has turned on the full SAS adventure mode and lots of brainstorming going on around the event, trails, rigs, this mud thread, packing, meals to be prepped, house sitter and on and on.

I am curious about meals and what your easy camp meals are? We come from so many different areas that sharing our ideas could be interesting!

Like when @POTATO LAUNCHER introduced us to Hobo Dinners... easy and yummy!
Ingredientes:
Potatoes, ground beef, onion, carrots, mushrooms, butter or oil, salt, pepper
We, being from New Mexico, add hot green chili, cheese, bacon (cooked), basil and oregano
It's a meal you can add or not add whatever you want, so each wrap is personalized
Make a boat with thick foil, add butter, thinly sliced potatoes, beef patty and then all the fixings you want, don't forget the salt and pepper
(If you add cheese, wrap the beef around the cheese to keep it from sticking to the foil)
Close up the foil and placed on the grill or around the fire/coals
Cook until potatoes and beef are done to your likings
Place on a plate, open up and eat!

We also enjoy a simple Steak and Asparagus meal and there are always hot dogs and brats but sometimes we want something new....

@Mesa Woman
I like to cook so always something rocking at our camp. Italian beef, smash burgers, crab cakes, sausage & peppers, blah blah blah…safe travels ✌️
There's not a YUM button...😋 Which site are you in this year... 😇

Jessir! Compliments of Classic Cruisers and Rocket City Cruisers. Hats off to our fantastic sponsors each year.
Well now I gotta go do a pros and cons list. I just spent the dime on getting all new plastic trim for the cargo area. If I leave the trim off, my soda koozie can stick to all that metal.

@Mesa Woman recommended a GMSR radio.

Is this what the majority of folks use or is the fashion CB radio still in vogue ?

Is the standard CB radio gonna be okay for trail communication?
CB will not be used by our trail team leaders. A basic FRS/GMRS will cover your needs. Scheels, Academy, Bass Pro even Wal-Mart has basic walkie talkies on the shelf fairly cheap. We will be using GMRS/FRS channels 1-22 depending on your trail group.
The Midland MXT 105 is what I have in both Cruisers. It is a easy plug and play unit. Uses a cigarette lighter power supply and the antenna is tuned with a magnetic base. Works great and doesn't need to be hard mounted. Some velcro will hold this small unit pretty easy.

I'm gonna do this Midland you suggest. Even though the Boefengs have the capability to run on these frequencies I have had mixed results this far. Time to upgrade!

I believe Amazon's Prime week is about to start. May be able to get a smoking deal on a pre-programmed GMRS type radio.

Wattage doesn't really matter in the mountains anyways. There's almost always a hill in the way

Also, if you can’t pull it off in time, many of will have an extra GMRS handheld or 2 available…

I keep a handheld in the truck in case someone is ever in need. I also keep a CB in case any dinosaurs are in the group. :hillbilly:

Really though, I like CB for the colorful live traffic updates on the highway.

Plus, where better to fly the flag?
