Hey Guys,

Me and the wife are heading to Santa Fe for vacation in middle Jan. This is a trip for wife to make up for a few camping trips and wheeling vacations. She is wanting to do spa stuff and relax. It is our first real vacation, without kids, since our honeymoon almost 8 years ago. She is due a nice vacation. We will be there 5 nights. So any tips on nice hotels, restaurants, spas and other would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have a Merry Christmas

Santa Fe

If you want to stay near the Plaza (10,000 Waves is a little out of town) the La Posada Hotel and Spa is hard to beat. Walking distance to some of the best restaurants and galleries in the world. For higher end gourmet-style food, Santacafe, Geronimo, El Farol and Cafe Pasqual's are good bets. For New Mexico cuisine try The Shed, La Choza or Tomasito's. Lot's of other possibilities for food, whatever you're looking for.

Tomasita's has the best red and green chile and best NM food anywhere IMO. Closes on Sundays : ( Gabriel's 20 minutes north of Sante Fe is good but more like Mexican food you would find around Guadalajara, Mexico (that is where the manager is from). Their guacamole made tableside is to die for.

If your looking to get outside of Santa Fe then Ojo Caliente is a cool spa too. farther away without the glitz of Santa Fe.

I have looked at Ojo Caliente. Is it good for a four night trip or will you get bored. When at the Ojo is there only their restaurant and bars? Or is there a town to go to?

It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Good for a very quiet getaway, not so good for shopping/dining options.

You might want to consider making Taos a part of your trip as well. It's artsy and has lots of Indian culture stuff. You could drive there and back to Santa Fe in a day.

When in Santa Hey, Cowgirl Cafe. just sayn.

Ojo C is the budget version of 10k Waves. Maybe a night there 1st, let her think that's what she's getting, then spoil the crap outta her w/ an overnight at 10k. They have a variety of overnight lodges, starting w/a Bambi Airstream....

Thanks for all the input. Think we will do a few nights in Santa Fe and a few nights at the Ojo.
I was hoping wife would like 10k Waves but she said she is not into the Japanese thing. It looks really
cool however. Ok, anybody want to rent me a cruiser for the week.

Boy all this talk of NewMex cuisine (thanks Ali's for the care package when you last visited!) is making me think we should be planning another ABQ/SF/Taos trip soon!

MEMCruiser: Just in case you don't already know: There is NOTHING like NewMex cuisine! We tried to get into Tomacita's when we were there last year but they were out 90-minutes for a table at LUNCH TIME! Next time.

Enjoy yourself there...its not hard to do!

For food: The Shed. Their blue corn red enchiladas are great. And order a Silver Coin Margarita, if you drink.

Also check out Luxury Hotels Downtown Santa Fe New Mexico | Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi | New Mexico Vacations for food, and lodging. And try their Silver Coin Margarita too!.

Oh, and the Bull Ring for food, and yes, hang out in the bar. You can order from the regular menu at the bar at all these places. There chicken wings are different and very good. Order these with a Porter. Good combo.

Be sure to check out Packards, adjacent to the Plaza. They have really nice and interesting jewelery. They have been in business a really long time and have a great reputation. My wife just made a purchase there last Saturday, and ouch! (Just a warning). Before going to Packards, eat at the Shed and have a margarita or two, this will make Packards less painful when you or you wife make a purchase.

All these places are in downtown Santa Fe and are within walking distance of each other. PM if you want more details. Or contact me on Skype: source3computing.

Thanks for all the input. ... Ok, anybody want to rent me a cruiser for the week.

Happy to talk about my 60: pm me w/your dates etc.

Guys thanks for all the input. We can not wait until we get there. Siren thanks for the offer. Have any interior pics? Wife is pretty picky.

Wow guys, this is a gem of a place. Got here last night and just ate lunch at the shed. Great advice and help. Monday is going to come too soon.

Seen lots of MUD looking Cruisers already. Looks like Cruiser heaven.
