Our 100 series is temporarily in the hands of my son in the south Bay area and likely in need of brake work - any shop recommendations gladly welcomed as I've been spoiled as Slee has worked on the vehicle exclusively here in CO and very leery in having anyone do work on it

It’s an hour and half away in stockton... but valley hybrid is well known on here and works on my Hundy. Could be worth the drive if you want someone trusted and need some other stuff done besides brakes. George is awesome.

Thanks - still trying to understand what the issue but it sounds like it might be ABS related as my son is seeing intermittent behavior

Such as?

@denvervig I personally think it depends. If you ask mr overland bound who lives in that area he would recommend Top Shop Auto in Lafayette. No harm with that.

If you ask me. +1 for Georg at Valley Hybrids. He has worked on my rig as well. I think if you want to go with someone similar to Christo, go with Georg

Thanks for the replies - sounds like Valley Hybrids is the answer but that is indeed a drive so we'll see. Either way, I finally spoke to my son and the over the phone diagnosis is that the ABS appears to be kicking in as follows:

1) Lower speeds just before coming to a full stop (i.e. stop signs)
2) High speeds more consistently when applying the brakes
3) No loss in braking power
4) No dash lights other than the Maintenance Required light but this came on just before Labor day and prior to this issue. FYI - we drove out together from CO to CA on 8/29 - straight through - and there were no issues as I did most of the driving. I then flew home on 9/3 and a week later (last week this occurred).

He's going to get hit Autozone this afternoon to pull codes so we'll see.

I have not heard back from Valley Hybrids so curious if there are any other recommendations?

Georg is always busy, not a bad thing.

I have 2 other suggestions.
Chris I have used off and on since 1984 great dude, doesn't wrench anymore but knows his stuff.

Call Kevin. He is a Toyota Master Tech that opened his own shop. He is very familiar with LC/LX. No affiliation. I live in San Jose and he is the best I’ve found in the area.

Thanks - I have a call into Kevin as well. I've also scheduled an appointment with Stevens Creek Toyota to "try" and get an accurate diagnosis or over diagnosis (i.e. dealer style) - will cost me $210 to get some information but at this point I do not have much choice as I just want to figure out how/when to get the vehicle back home safely
