Lenny you can get mini truck diffs with 4.10 for like a c note.....carry 2 spares and a 18v impact and call it done'o.

Yes I know you are putting in longs but just had to needle a bit.

Not gonna be known as "poppa diff". changing a diff is aggravating enough in the shop, dont want to do it on the trail.

Not building a rock rod. But sure looks like fun... To watch. Doesn't look to be too nice on the lower backage..

Slow is my style of wheeling.

I think KOH will ruin that thought process though.

Yeah, and even at Cruiser events too! Ya'll missed the race at GSMTR, but I didn't race for one reason, my axles... if I had 1tons then I woulda raced! I think 80 axles under your junk would be fine, especially with those new hi-steer knuckles coming

Yes those probably would suffice. I thought about tearing my 80 axles out and putting them under the samurai and putting 60/14 bolt combo under the 80. But then i decided the 80 aint going to see hardcore trails anymore. She too fat for all that. Got the samurai for that noise.

You put 60/14 combo under lorena and you will be rock boucing with the best of em. You didnt go fast, E, at GSMTR race cause you kept sloshing out of gaaaasss..

Not a big fan of jumpin my rig .. But looks fun...to watch. If i get into speed i will build it to jump ...well .. Built to land, i should say. Thats a whole different animal...

front Dana 60 pass-side drop and a rear 14 bolt.

obviously if I found said axles... I'd have no use for the NINE fjcruiser steelies and four 2" wheel spacers.

If you are serious I am in a position to help. I have an extra 14 bolt and have a line on a D61 (same as a D60 but requires a simple 1/4" spacer to run D60 gears) that could be had cheap. Holler at me and I'll hook you up.

Got the samurai transmission to shift!

Apparently it needed to be revved higher. I thought it should have shifted at 4500 rpm but apparently likes 5500 better which is right at its red line. Even going slow it likes to be revved to shift. Shifts hard like it has a shift kit in it. Nearly though my son in the back.. Which he thought was awesome.

Out of respect for georg i even added more fluid.

Sammy guys say that the tranny works better on up/downhills with a little more fluid in it than whats called for. We will see.

Maybe it just needs some more exercise. It was in 4wd low so that could explain the hard shifting ; ).

I only had about 3 blocks to get the rpms up so it could shift. Havent tried it in 2 wd yet. That will be a road test. maybe ill do that AFTER moab trip ; )

Lenny

Real samurais have 3 pedals and shift when and where you want. Just sayin :flipoff2:

Can't wait till my pile is finished and I can wheel with you. Your zuk is sweet.

Ya'll gibbing me the heebeejeebee's with all this zuki lovefest...

Lenny

Dug this outta the archives. None of the rigs look anything like they did in this video but it'll show you how tough a Toyota axle is. In this video I had 38.5s pay close attention to it about 3:05 2nd gear redline slid foot off clutch pedal and held on. I beat it like that for 3 years and the mini truck diff is still goin strong in another rig, oh yea it was welded too.

Your diffs are plenty strong trust me.

"Oh Boy!" (Harlan @ Thanksgiving'07).

The fun happens around 3:05

Yeah ya beat her like a cheating wife!

Did ya break everything else around the dif?! ; )

One of the reason i kept the 4.10s in there.

Nope I never broke anything. And those are 5.29s. 4.10s may be stronger but used vs new also plays a factor in my opinion. Old ass factory gears in the factory setup can't be as strong as aftermarket setup a little tight, at least that's what I think.

I only went to 80 axles for width. Mini truck axles are stupid strong and light. I've gained some serious weight with the 80 stuff.

God only gave us 2 feet. I know a few guys were cussing their manuals in Moab :)

But he gave us 2 heels and 2 sets of toes (well most of us), heel toe in a zuk is stupid easy :)

I like the added challenge of the manual, thats why mine stayed manual when i started the current build.

whoa. You got 2 sets of toes?

Samurai definitely has more "pep" with a stick. I enjoyed wheeling a the 5 spd when i had it . I just wanted something a little different. I like the auto so far and really like its reduction in crawl ratio. I do miss compression braking going down hill though. Still something i neef to work out.

I am still waiting for you to put a 5.0 in yours and sell me your aerio motor ; )

Hell I'm still waitin on me to finish the aerio swap. You will be the first to know when it's for sale.

Get crackin on your build! I thought this would be done by now ; )

Still waitin on the knuckles..... But they are gonna be well worth the wait I'm sure
