I have a 73 fj40 with a 80ish 2f. I just did a saginaw box and used a stock pump for a fj60 and it doesnt seem to work too well. The pump pukes fluid out of the cap and doesnt seem to have a ton of "power". Does anyone know the specs on what pressure these pumps put out and the specs on the saginaw pump? Also this might be a dumb question but what side on the box is the pressure side?

The LARGER fitting is the pressure side...The SMALLER side is the return.

The Toyota pump is rated at approximately 1050 PSI at about 4 gpm, while the Saginaw is 1100 PSI and 4 gpm. They are about the same.

If it is puking foam, you still have bubbles in the line. Fill the reservoir with the pump running and crank the wheel back and forth. Repeat until the fluid level does not rise when you shut the engine off.

I cant tell if its foam or if its fluid. I was worried that the return pressure was too great for the 60 pump

So i jacked up the front axle and turned my tires back and forth 30 - 40 times :bang: and it helped for a short time but it puked all of the fluid back out of the cap of the pump. There are no visible leaks in my lines or fittings and this is the second fj60 pump I have tried. I really dont want to buy another pump and bracket for a saginaw pump but I am at my whits end. Any ideas?

Are you sure you are filling it up all the way? It will keep on puking as long as there is air causing it to cavitate. Fill it with the engine off and turn it lock to lock several times to get most of the air out. Then start it and see if the fluid level drops or if any foam is present. Keep filling until the foam goes away and the fluid level doesn't rise after you turn it off. It is OK to add fluid when it is running if necessary.

Pump Bracket

If you decide to go with Sag I still have a few pump brackets at $65.00 but there are only a few left. Bill
