I'm pretty sure my ps pumps going bad. It leaks like crazy and seems harder to steer than it sould be. Would it be better to rebuild the stock one or get a sag. like the 40 guys do ?

pump not box ... sure you can if you dont need the smog pump its "easy to mod it " to work so I'm told ... I just got a reman from Oreilys took 2 trys to get one that worked I'm good at swappnem them now ;)

When my PS pump went out, I put on a reman one. Lots of people told me not too and they were right. The thing lasted a little over a year.

When it came time to replace that one, I had to decide if I wanted to put on: another reman, a new OEM unit, or put on a Saginaw pump. I went Saginaw.

I have been more than extremely happy with the unit (can you tell I like it?). With 33s, I felt the stock unit was barely adequit and with possibly larger tires in the future, would definately not be up for the task.

Anyhow, bought a bracket from Iron Pig Offroad. Also bought the wide Saginaw pump pulley so I could run a stock width belt. Easy bolt on. It was more work to take the old one off than put the new stuff on. Heck, the high pressure line even screws right into the Saginaw (I was surprised).

Anyhow, works great. Lots of boost. Some people don't like that much assist, I do.

Did you have to have a custom high pressure hose made?

Don't forget to flush the PS system. The old pump generated a lot of metal contaminants that will destroy your new pump in short order. I would also suggest you add an in-line filter to the low pressure line. This filter will save your steering system, especially if your are wheelin'.

Check bossproducts.us or broncograveyard.com for the filters.

Good luck.

The existing high pressure line on my 60 not only screwed right into the pump, but lined right up. Like it was made for it.

Thanks guys, this is great info. So I will go with the saginaw. Thanks for the reminder on flushing the system I would of forgot.
