It's never really a good idea to attach the cooler to the radiator itself. Think of how hard you hit things sometimes and using those little vanes that are attached to the radiator core. Commonly, over time, tehy create leaks.

Much better to build tabs off that nice piece of steel you have right there...

I know you're probably right and I did consider that, but, I think it'll be good to go for the rest of this season. What I don't wanna do right now is get into it and have my OCD kick in and need to drain the coolant, pull the radiator and make it JUST RIGHT.
If I were to do that, I'd sleeve holes through that radiator mount frame, in addition making a bracket For the cooler.
So when I do change the coolant, ill re work the mount at that time.
The secure straps are nylon and there are rubber bushings behind it to protect one from the other, so I think it'll be okay for a while.
To be honest, I don't like the hose routing as it is, hence the the sleeving of the mount frame.

lol, you won't sleep tonight thinking about it..

Slept quite well, actually! :)
Guess I'm not THAT worried about it.

Lol :)

Not that anyone really cares to see my "hardcore" power steering cooler install, but here are a few pics just for the sake of thread completion! :)

I know what you mean.

Here's mine, that's a hose clamp on the bottom left, it's the only connection besides passing through sleeves in the support. I can pull the radiator without touching the PS. The hose routing came out clean. I didn't even have to trim the original hose.

Yap. Something like that.
However, the square tube makes mine a little more involved as I would need to drill out the upright tube to run the lines through it. Also, I'd definitely wanna sleeve those through holes.

Something I learned when I installed my cooler. For “tube” type coolers, the tubes should run horizontally, and that the fluid should enter at the bottom and exit the top. Mounting a tube type cooler in any other way can lead to air pockets.

Also, I had FJ60 with saginaw steering that I made my own cooler using 1/4" steel tubing simular to 1998 BMW 528i and mounted it using a replacement cooler pad kit from pepboys.
