I'll let you know how the Mark's OD gears work out with my turboed 1HZ, just have wait for the custom McNamara gear to get made that will get installed with it;)

please do,

John @ radd was saying down the road he was considering doing the overdrive and low range gears in his 77
My only concern would be are the gears going to still be low enough. It would be nice if you could get the overdrive and the 3.05 low range
I plan on doing gears when I have to do a t-case rebuild

It sucks that it's not for the h55f. Dame!
Moneys being saved for a full turbo set up (turbo kit, ss exhaust, gauges, boost comp, water to air intercooler)
I figure I should do it right and proper

What does the McNamara gear do?

What will be your intention for this Safari 5th taller gear?:D
With the answer known for R151, I redirected myself to 3.7 diff gear.

Better rpms for highway driving, I drive at about 90-95 on the highway to stay below the torque band and save on fuel
I would drive quicker but right when I am in the torque band it just eats fuel

The idea would be to be able to drive a bit quicker yet still maintain nice fuel economy without being in the torque band

I don't want to change my diff gears because I like my 4.11s and 33s

I will be swapping to 255s when my 285s are worn out. That will drop the rpms a smidge but everything counts

What is your rpm stay at with the speed of 100km/h?:D
My rpm stay at 2400 with this speed. quite high in a sense:p
The more I pressed on the pedal, the engine tends to get louder and louder, and of course burn more fuel(something that I don't it to happen).
Or perhaps asked ARB to custom made for this H55f.

Yeah basically there. I like to cruise it at 2000 rpm which is like 85 or 90
I get passed lots and get the a****** look lots from faster drivers, really I don't care about them it would just be nice to go 100 at a lower rpm

Of all the people that I have encountered with 75, no one seems to be satisfied with the speed.
Too high rpm, high gear ratio...etc So on.

the 70 series excels at speeds below 80-90kms hr cruising in my eyes.
Why do you think its built like a tank? Its slow, reliable and gets good fuel economy because face it driving in africa down a beat to s*** road your not going to be hauling 100kms/h.

To be honest I love the truck and can live with it if I never changed it. But I might take the chance and try the transfer gears down the road.

Its a land cruiser, not a sports car. I know its a turtle but I tell my friends with domestics that it will outlast your vehicle tenfold.

I have the same sense with you. tough and reliable.:D
I know is Landcruiser and not sport car, too.
Basically, not much of compliant with overall performance.
Let me know with the transfer gear down and see what we improve with it.

It will be awhile hopefully before I have to do the t case

I am very happy with my cruiser

Well, hopefully the 44% reduction with the 2.82:1 low side will be good enough for what I need it for. The 8% overdrive will be nice though:grinpimp:

The McNamara gear is an output drive gear that is modified to have splines that drive the gear full length where the spacer is in between the drive gear and the PTO gear. A great option for eliminating the slack in the drive gar and shaft on the H55. Jack McNamara makes one for the standard gear set, but I had Mark's send him the drive gear off the OD gear set to modify it into a McNamara gear. I figure, as long as I'm rebuilding the case, I might as well beef it up.;)

Hopefully the McNamara gear will be done soon and Mark's can ship the whole set. I lucked out and the exchange rate was decent when I pulled the trigger. I'll be re-building the t-case as soon as they get here and will post up the results when they are all in.

Yeah 44% will be just fine ahhahah I will always take more if I have the option.
The overdrive from what I am told is more of about 9% and every little bit counts. I think it would be a nice little addition to my trucks overall gearing.

Thanks for the heads up on the MacNamara Gear.

70 series came with R151 in Australia .. ? coz here all are H150 ..
