Tucan viajero chiming in

it would be nice if Slee or Tucan Valerjo chimed in...

Hi, what can I say?

Mine is a UZJ200 General Market spec. Land Cruiser. Unfortunately we didn't get the 5.7 liter engine down here.

Therefore, I can´t tell if the snorkel I've installed is adequate for the USA spec 200 series larger engine in relation to airflow capacity. Fitting it physically shouldn't be that difficult if there are any airbox differences.

Nevertheless, I can say that I didn't hesitate to install it as soon as it became available as we have seen many, and I mean many, 1GR-FE (FJ Cruiser, Tacoma) engines seizing under heavy dust conditions. Therefore, when I saw dust on the wrong side of the air filter I decided the snorkel install was unavoidable.

Sorry!

Nice work slee....

Do you have any posts of how you bent / made it fit so we have an idea?

Thanks

I noticed the front bumper fits closer then ARB suggests. Have you had any problems with the front bumper flexing when using the winch and hitting the fender? I prefer the fit from everyone else's I have seen. Also, how are the nittos in the snow and on wet roads?

The Nittos performed very well on both the Dalton and Dempster highways. The drive on the Dempster was wet and muddy with the biggest hazzard being the inch of calcium chloride left on the wheels afterwards. I spent an hour chipping the stuff off afterwards which messed up the wheel balance. I had to have them steam cleaned to completely solve the problem.

Given that the Dalton and Dempster are notorious for tires I was quite pleased not to have used either of the two spares I carried! I did suffer two broken windshields though, one on each road! (More info on these trips here: www.taxidialogue.com)

I haven't tested the tires extensively in snow. Given the next trips planned are for Mexico and then Africa I don't expect to either any time soon!

Cheers

Great blog! Read it all and look forward too MORE! You have inspired me to take a long road trip. My next one is the Continental divide. :steer: I would love to take one similar to yours. Sometime in late Spring when there is still snow to play in. :)
