Sad Story...

This is a sad story and more common than all of us think. This little boy's death was senseless and preventable.

On the lighter side...give it up for Dachshunds. Tough little sons o' bitches (and bitches) I grew up with two of them and remember them with fondness. Any dog that goes into holes after badgers is one tough dog...mine were stubborn too.

yeah, i would think if the mom was a little more prepared or level headed 24 16 oz bottles of water should have been enough.

Sad story, need to close that whole area so this doesn't happen again!

Lets see, traveling into a hostile environment that will kill you, alone, don't know the area, relying on one electronic navigation device (that is likely only intended for street), under equipped, what other basic rules were broken? Sorry for the loss, but that is just asking for it, Darwinism at work.

24x16 ounces = 384 ounces

1 gallon has 128 ounces

384 ounces : 128 = 3 gallons

3 gallons would be expected to last just about less than one day in desert heat for two people plus dog

so what kind of vacation is summer in death vally ??? i thought you explored that place in the winter and it was still warm ... come on i would have never put my children in that situation or my dog!
