Alright fellas, air rail and nozzle parts came yesterday, got them on today (with fresh engine enamel on the air rail), carb on, fan shroud mod done and installed (painted too), now just need to make sense of the spaghetti, throttle linkage and should be good to go! Plus I will throw some tuneup items in: cap, rotor, plugs and wires.... Off to work for now, so tomorrow she runs again!!!

Have fun all ya all at SnT!!! (jealous!!)

fresh engine enamel on the air rail

Sorry, but it won't last. You might even want to take it off and strip it if you don't want to deal with the mess later. It's thin metal which expands a lot and it gets really hot after you shut off the engine. I painted mine with VHT exhaust manifold paint and it lasted about a month. Engine enamel doesn't stand a chance.

Bummer. Oh well... I'll just let it flake then...

Yeah b&@"&es!!! Fired right up first turn of the key!! Pulled the choke a lil, let her warm up, quietly!!! No exhaust leak!!! Closed the choke, and she idled like she wanted to get me in bed!!! Yeah!!!!!! She can have me!!!

So then I go on to doing some maintenance the PO neglected, starting with the pcv, then cap and rotor, and guess what gift she gave me, two snapped off dizzy cap bolts!! No worries, gonna do it in the morning, along with checking the bolts on the pan and timing cover...

It runs? You musta got lucky...

Ha, ha.

Shoot, finding a 30-ish year old rig that clean and relatively unhacked is a huge stroke of luck to begin with.
I have a suspicion that truck will be around for a good long while.

Yes she will! I had my last rig for 17 yrs (she was my first too). And Betsy is my DD now, and fam camping rig, so she will be around for a long time. Already planning an overland/camping trip to Utah for next fall!!

that will be a bad ass trip!!!

Where's that at?

Where's that at?
Utar. East of Moab, IIRC.
Near Chicken Corners.
I stumbled across it here on 'Mud.
It's less like the commonly crawled areas of Moab, and more of a rough trail riding area, ideal for camping.
Beautiful scenery.

Putting it on the list! Thanks combat!

me and a couple other members will be installing my lift this weekend and tinkering around on the trucks if anyone wants to come down, drink, BS, and bbq
lemme knoe

But, it is sac area, and wrenching drinking and BBQ involved....

So, what part of the Dixon/Sacramento area is this lift installation happening in, what sort of beer is in the cooler and do you need any more jackstands and/or big wrenches?
