Nice and it sounds like it'll be stout as well, I'm sure we can get someone to post the measurements for the Badlands 12000 we have a few folks that have them and that should be plenty winch for what you'll need. I have the Warn M12000 and I had to redrill the new bumper because it was drilled for a XD9000 and they're different mounts. Wish they would just come up with a standard pattern :meh:
 
The harbor freight badlands 12k is a 4.5" x 10". I like it so far. I wanna say it is 21" wide with a little space. And 7" deep again with a little space. The handle at the top is right at 3" above the housing. From the front of the rig. It is on the right side and faces back to lock. It sticks about 1.5" from center towards the back.

I'll double check my measurements later in my design book tonight. :)
 
No need. Harbor freight has the measurements on the site. I looked it up when I got home. My bumper sticks out about 2"too far. Hope its not too late to fix that.

Finished most of the design tonight. I'll weld, trim, and grind this weekend. Should get it painted too.

Total cost will be around $100 and I have 8 enjoyable hours invested so far. I'm worried about how far it sticks out, but I can always modify it later. The approach angle will still be 11"better than departure.

I've been thinking of doing an exo and it's on my list. After "maybe" a bob and some body work.
 
Looks nice. Did you build it for a standard type winch or a stand up 8274 type winch?
 
i assume its standard. I got some measurements from various websites and added some space for comfort. The plate is about 22"w by 10"deep with 1" being under the grill. I'll drill it after i get a winch.
 
I know you don't have a 60, but a reference to size.

The more I look at it, the better it looks. I think it will be fine. I just need to get a winch and see for sure.

I can't wait to get her finished up. The local Toyota jamboree is next weekend and I'm hoping to put it through some test...without a winch that is.
 
Now. I havnt done any research. But. I've read that that whose cheaper wireless systems take like 4-6 seconds to react. . To me that could be bad. The housing on the harbor fright is heavy. It's solid feeling. Just from my phone. That housing looks kinda crimped together where as the badland is all bolted. If you've got a local HF. Id say get that one. Join their coupon list and you can get it local. And around cheaper if a coupon.

Again. I have done Ero research on the one you linked. I've read good reviews about the badland.

It's likely made by the same 12-yr-old Chinese girl, but this one is a little cheaper, comes with a wireless remote, and has a 1 year warranty instead of the 90-day. Thoughts?

I think your right bud I've seen several rebadged with different names they all look like the same product with the exception of the controller setup. I've read good reviews on the badland winch for the coin but hadn't read much on these.

That's what I thought. For instance, I find the same tools at harbor freight as I do at farm and fleet under the power tec name and manards under the till shop name. The stickers and sometimes even the housings are slightly different, but motors, pulleys, parts, and consumables are all exactly the same.

I think I will go with the one from Amazon. It comes with the 3 year warranty, and I have am Amazon gift card I need to use.

Painted the bumper tonight after adding two more support tubes. Was going to install it, but the paint was taking forever to dry. Here's some upside down pictures of it drying.

I need to find a way to mount my license plate. I think I will make something that fits in hitch receiver that I can remove when leaving the pavement.

Ugly welds but I was able to jack the front of my truck up off the bumper (actually, just the little tab I welded on for the cb antenna, I was trying to bend it a little and the truck was too light). I think it will hold fine and I can always fix anything that doesn't look right after I put it through some rigors.

My skills are one notch above someone with none and 99 below someone that knows what they're doing. I'm just putting what i have together however it makes sense at the moment.
