Anyone have a problem getting the spare chain mount to drop through the bore on a Rock Warrior rim center? the chain link is just a bit too long to go through. Chain is welded into the T piece that goes through.

Also, I’m assuming that the rim face goes up to protect the face of the wheel when you drop off obstacles. That’s how my OEM spare was mounted but it looks like it’s been off the truck before.
Thanks!

You have to trim about an inch off that tube. I used a pipe cutter, then sliced the ring with a cutoff tool to get it off the chain. Very easy.

Yes, clean side up.

^^ that’s what the tire shop did. It’s still super tight so I will have to revisit. Spare mounts face up correct?

Disregard. Reread you answer. Clean side up. Got it. Thanks!

I actually removed the hoist to make the cut, so I could put the thing in a vise. Here's what mine looked like after I cut off a piece. I squirted on a heavy coat of Rustoleum satin black before re-installing.

Late model tire chain (2018+?) apparently fits without modifcation.
