Watching all the 3rd gen 4Runner rear bumper corners rusting out here in Colorado.

Just a reminder (if you own one) to spray out the bumper corner with high pressure water at a self-serve car wash, and while it's clean, slather it with axle grease. Squirt some ATF down the seams between the center section of the bumper and the corners. Wipe off the excess. Do this yearly.

Maybe all you guys on the East Coast are already on your 3rd set of these, due to the salt and climate out there.

Good advice if they are still in good shape. We had a 2000 4Runner for 10 years and just sold it last spring with 221k on it. The bumpers were original and weren't rusty at all. New England truck since day 1 and although it was always garaged it didn't get washed a whole lot in the winter. But it was a Sport model with painted bumpers instead of chrome. I see the chrome versions rusted to death all the time. So I would say if you do need to replace them it would be better off to go with the painted ones instead.
