I have repainted my hardtop doors using the rustoleum process described in this section and now have a question.

Do I coat with clear coat or not?

I didn't use a hardner with the paint and it does seem a little soft and I am figuring the clear coat will give me more protection from scratches, but then some have said using clear coat makes it harder to fix if you do get a scratch.

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Clear it...

Use a high solids clear. 50% plus solids.

dont listen to anyone who says clear coats are harder to repair.. they dont know what they dont know...

Paint usually takes a good while to dry full. I'd wait to clear coat it for a little while. maybe a week or two. Clear coat touch ups shouldn't be too bad since you're not going for a show truck look anyway.
