A 4" section of rocker below the rear passenger door on my '99 has a rust hole in it.
Is the rocker available anywhere as a replacement part?
Can't find one new or used.

Not available. I asked the same question a couple months ago and got nothing. I ended up paying a shop to fabricate new metal to go in.

Nice find. My rust was isolated at the rear cab corner just in front of the rear wheel. I was worried about fabbing that corner piece myself because of the contours. I did not find that corner anywhere (and called a bunch of places). They kept saying the truck was too new. 1999...too new?? I don't remember if I called this place though, so please let us know. For reference, I ended up paying about $400 to fab that corner and get it welded in (no paint or filler work included).

Have any pictures of the before/after? I have some aggressive rocker rust that I've been pondering for awhile now as well.

I have some rust in the same spot (front of the rear wheel driver side). It is not a lot, and really just on the rocker in the wheel well, but it drives me crazy.

I wish Toyota would have hired some Europeans (Swedes would have been nice) to do the body on the 100 series. The rust proofing is a poor effort, IMO.

Count me in as well for rust in the same spot (front of rear wheel driver side). In addition to that location, when I took my running boards off, they had done some surface rust damage on my rocker panels where they rubbed through the undercoating and paint. I paid a shop $1000 to fix it all, which included; rear cab corner repair, remove surface rust, new undercoating, new paint. Hopefully it will hold up for awhile.

what about just cut out the rockers entirely so you can really get in there and clean up the metal, then replace with a piece of welded-in rectangle tube stock - it will be stronger and will act as the ultimate high clearance rock slider. it's basically a version of boat-siding your rig. this would be my choice if the rockers rotted out on any of my vehicles.

Got an e-mail response from Chris at alfaparts.net confirming that they have the rocker, along with a photo.
Looks good to me. i will try to post the photo once I figure out the process.

I can't speak to the 100 series experience but in other models this problem is accelerated but two things.

1 The seam sealers the rear wheelwell dries up and cracks and allows tire spray past into the rocker. It isn't always easy to see but it leaks just the same.

2 There are openings in the pinch weld at the bottom of the rocker that get blocked up and hold moisture. A big zip tie will clean them out and then you can follow up with the rust proofer of you choice. Fluid film works do me. Doors have a similar drain as well.

Interested to hear about the quality of this replacement, as the contours are relatively simple. I'm currently restoring a 1963 volvo P1800S, and Wolf Steel sells replacement parts for this car too. The reviews for Volvo/Alfa panels are not exactly "glowing".

Has anybody ultimately tried the Alfa panels for the land cruiser? Would love to see some pictures near a vehicle to see how close the contours are.

Watching a car restoration reality show. Saw some amazing sheet metal work done. They formed as they need.

I used fiber glass on a 240Z that had all four wheel wells rust out. Was cheap, fast & easy for a DYI to form and finish. Plus no worry of rust coming back if done right. Got carried away, built a spoiler and flared fenders a bit. Never did a good paint job, but still looked really cool and seamless.

I have a couple 100s I am parting out that I can cut rockers out of for you to install, I cut sheetmetal all the time for the 6x and 8x crowd. email if interested
