Hello all,
I am attaching a couple photos from under my truck. It's been up to lake tahoe a lot over the years. They use salt on the roads. I live in the bay area. What suggestions do you have for addressing the rust situation?

Thanks

If it was me I wouldn't do anything if you removed it from the environment that was causing the rust. Just plan ahead on any work and check out the bolts and pre-soak with kroil or something similar.

I can only wish the underside of my truck was as rust free as yours!

Yep, that's not much to worry about. As n55 said, I wouldn't do a thing if you're not planning to take it back up to Tahoe. I'm in New England where salt is a way of life and I DD my LC all winter so I spray the underside with fluid film twice a year. You can get it on Amazon or Lowes.

Good to know. In general rust is rare around here. Pretty much only vehicles that frequent the bigger mountains or drive on the beaches get it. Seems like a good amount to me but that's why I asked.

Thanks

I use a self-service car wash with flexible wand, to get undercarriage every wash (after every storm). It' just as import if not more so than the body, rust is the enemy.

The rust is manageable, I'd treat it now. It's a CA vehicle, it would be nice to look like one. I don't have the perfect rust treatment formula but I imagine some wire wheels & brushes to knock down the crusty areas, rust converter directly on the rust and chassis paint over it all (both brush-on and spray).

Great recommendation hoser. May I add apply marine grease to nuts, bolts and bare metal parts, before painting undercarriage areas.

That's not too bad-

You can work on removing the loose scale, wire brush, then power washing or air blast the collected sand/salt mix that gets caught in tight places (like between frame and body), and then use a rust converter ( there are many options). I've used an aerosol rust converter made by VHT (on Amazon) followed by a coat of zinc chromate, and the a top coat of satin black.

not bad I think. If you have no time now, just spray some WD-40 or PAM or better and it'll likely be fine for a few weeks. Do at least the fasteners.
