I want to order a set of h1 rims but I am undecided on which direction to take. Those that are running them on their 80s did you recenter the centers or are you using a spacer? I see positives and negatives to both. I spoke with militaryoffroadtires.com and they said to use a 2" spacer and not recent the rims.

I'm curious, why H1 wheels in the first place? Seems like a lot of hassle.

Just out of curiosity, why an H1? I know that they are cheap/easy as I run a set on my 40 (60/14 bolt). How are you going from 6 lug to 8 lug?? I think re-centering is the best way to get them on your 80, but then it doesn't really make it the cheap/easy way to get into a set of beadlocks.... Just my $.02

H1 Hummer Bead Lock Pressed Wheel Centers

really easy, took me about 2 hours per wheel to cut them out, weld in the new centers and then mount a tire. i took my time to get them as true as i could with a little jig i made. i could have done it faster but i really wanted to make sure i got the centers in just right. mounting the tires is a bit of a chore the first time you do it but it gets easier once you learn a bit.

i can now run 5 pounds of air in my tires and basically float over mud with no fear of the tire coming off the wheel.

I would not feel comfortable cutting the centers out and welding in new ones. My neighbor is a fabricator for a performance shop. I may ask him if he'll do it.

What kind of tires are you running?

that was my LX with the old 36" tires.

that is my 94 with summit wheels with the 37" good year tires.

the old style pull much better but are terrible on the road.

Nice trucks. Since it's not a dd I don't care too much about how it rides on the street as long as it performs well on the tails plus I'll still have the grabbers.

if its not a DD then i would for sure go with the H1 wheels. they are the cheapest beadlock out there. if you are on a budget then the H1 tires work ok but there are better options. i would go with a set of TSLs personally if it was a trail only truck for mud.

I'd say run them re-centered. Save all your energy/time torquing the wheels together, you're gunna need it. The plus side of the spacers is that you'll be able to run it with other rims to get the wide stance. But the backspacing on the re-centered rims from TWF is perfect in my opinion, nice and wide. I run the the BFG Baja TAs and I daily drive this thing. I threw 10 oz. of airsoft bbs and air them up to 23 psi. Rides pretty good even with the rock rings on them.

You can buy 6 lug to 8 lug spacers that are 2" thick. That is what I did on my 40. It puts the wheel offset right at zero which matches the oem wheels. If you go that route you have not modified anything and the wheels still hold their DOT status which may be useful for you depending on what the inspection people check. Further, since they are unmodified they might be easier to sell. These are extremely heavy wheel/tire sets and you may or may not like them. Weigh your options and do what is right for you.

I really want to go with tsls or pitbulls but getting rims and tires for $1000 is hard to beat. I may run them for the summer and then get tsls or pitbulls. There's nothing wrong with another set of tires in the garage

Which brand spacer did you go with? I was originally leaning that route. I like that I could put another set of h1 rims on if needed and not have to worry about getting them recentered.

I love your 80. Should I use 10 oz of air sorts per ride as well?

I run recentered press fit H1's and the BS is perfect for my set up. No rub at all full clock. Also run 37" PB Rockers and love the set up in the trail.

Got mine from TW fab, running down the road I have some shake. But finding the right street PSI with two golf balls in each I can get them to balance. Once on the trail, they are amazing.
