just took off those ugly ass grandma running boards off my cruiser, very happy with the looks! however, I did have to go to my nearest toyota dealer and order my front mud flaps, at first they ordered the wrong ones, i guess the older 80's have different mounting holes or just different size, but eventually i got the right flaps.

I stock them. I can't figure out why so many dealers have a hard time figuring which ones to order......

Since you took care of the ugly ass grandma running boards, trim your ugly ass grandpa mud flaps.

no way man! I like how they look on my lifted cruiser.

Got any pics of your trimmed flaps? What did you use to trim them? Did you trim them straight across, or follow the curve on them.

Thanks

I trimed the back, and havent detailed the front flaps for my sliders yet. But I used an exacto to cut along where the transition is between the thinner "flap" part and the bumped out body part of the flap. I will take photos and post in a couple of days. Others i think we using a cut off wheel but this melts the plastic vs. cut... no clean up was needed after using an exacto. I did this to prevent snagging the flap and end damaging the entire fender flare on a rock, etc.

Well, the left hand side (UK passenger side) running boards on my cruiser took down next door neighbours' brick wall effigy - actually, the first clip cracked it (the brick wall, silly!) and the second clip took it down....completely, ending up on next doors drive....the damage to my cruiser? minimal! the running boards were still there, but were lose, so it was removed as it might have posed a hazard to other road users... just a few scrarches that didn't even break through to the metal otherwise. Thing is, the driver side still has them - think I should have these removed too? it would make it mighty difficult to get into...but am thinking, remove this and have just a little step put there instead - would probably look better too.

I would think all or nothing. The step would not be too smooth looking. IMO

My running boards were taken off at the end of my very first day at the LSLC Roundup last year. My 80 was stock and the running boards got bent to hell. As I was wrenching them off, I realised how lucky I was not to cause any body damage to where they bolt on.

Go to the vendors section, and there is a C-Dan sticky on the top.

make sure you get LC mudflaps for your LX for the front.
if you have the stock LX rear bumper, keep those flaps until you replace it with an aftermarket rear bumper, then you'll need LC mudflaps.

Just a WAG here, but going with.....they're IDIOTS!

Not trying to be argumentative, but I doubt they have the same level of interest. Dan is unique and he's all ours!

Dan is a profesional and I suspect he was one long before running into our group 3 years ago. It seems that the organization of these parts departments is to have a centralized brain (parts manager) and several drones who's primary job is consuming oxygen at a minimal but constant rate.

I worked with my local dealer (before finding the list) and we tried to find the right flaps.

The pictures don't give you much to go by, and there's not much labelling as far as which flaps are for use "with Overfender" or "without Overfender" with or without running boards...as a cruiser specialist I'm sure you get to know which is which :)

An "overfender" is a flare and the running boards refered to are not a US option so you exclude that number right off the top....:D
