i was talkin to my sisters husband and he says that there is a junk yard near or in marana. hes been there a couple times but its hard trying to get directions from him over the phone and the fact he's retarded. i was told this place has many old TLC's and other old vintage 4x4's, and i think the owners name might be Tim. if anyone know any info about this place please let me know.

yup,, but last a talked to tim (8yrs) he wasnt a bona-fide junk yard, just a guy wqith alot of stuff. he was in marana back then. if someone from tucson doesnt reply you should be able to find it, marana is not excactly a vast metropolis.

no there definatly tlc's because he used to have one and the owner of the yard gave him a cool lock box with a bunch of tlc decals on it that i still have.

even if its not a bona-fide junk yard i hope he still lets me pick through there, you wouldn't happen to have his number would you... hmmm

the number i have has changed,, so no. i have bought a few parts way back when, he did/does sell stuff.

one of the guys on this board from tucson should be in the know.

Tim Still sells stuff. He's not cheap from what I've heard but he's still out there in Marana sellin junk. I don't know him but I just talked to a guy in Tucson last month and he was tellin me about him. I guess he's out by the airplane graveyard somewhere. I go down to Tucson about 2 times a month for work. Maybe next time I'll venture out looking.

Last time I was there ( a few years back, I got my 60 series rear end from him) he had several landcruisers he was parting out. He also sold new parts, some he got from Man-a-Fre. He even had H55 five speed trannies with t-cases that he was selling.

He also said he did some work, including engine conversions and stuff like that. He seemed like a real nice guy to me.

I would also say that his prices are a bit high when compared to what you might get from an individual, but they are probably lower than most commerical junk yards. But that is just a guess on my part.

I would also bet that this is Tim Hill

Tim is a nice guy, and I think his prices are fair. He has a lot things you just won't find anywhere else in the state. I'd say the only other close source for equivalent used parts would be Specter (ick). They'll stick ya for shipping most the time.

Guess I was a little late on getting in on this thread, I am sitting in a hotel room in Watertown, Wisconsin right now.

I have never met Tim, but I know a number of people in Tucson who are very happy with him.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Tim Hill. No junk yard, just his home with many cruiser and parts sorted about. A nice thing about being only 20 minutes from him is that when I need something from Man-a-fre, I call him and pick it up in a week or two NO shipping cost. He works exclusively with Man-a-fre and will receive a pallet or two of parts from a trucking terminal in Phoenix that he hauls back with his sweet early yellow FJ45 with a BB chevy.
I have had gone up there to find some good headlight bezels, he helped me sort through some to find the best ones....Freebies:)
And for a man in his sixties he still gets out and wheels more than me.

Directions to his place? Anyone?

Thanks -

Rocky

Directions are best got from Tim directly, and after talking to him and getting an invite to come down and check out his selection. (he is by the airline bone yard) He is not a junk yard, but a private residence, with lots of LC parts as alrerady stated below. I would give him a call and see when he would be available to have you stop by - I too have had many dealing with him over the years, and trust his advice on all things cruiser as the gospel.
I have lots of pics from wandering around his property of his selection of parts if you want to take a look, I always snap a few so I remember what he has...pm me if you are intersted.

Great guy, but I think he may not want his # posted, please keep it to pm's.

Meh, since it was posted over 3 years ago, I doubt it matters at this point. :D

Tim used to hand out a business card with all of his vital info on it. I don't really understand why a guy in the business of selling vehicles and parts wouldn't want folks to know about his operation?

Edit: An online white pages search for the address and phone number of Timothy Hill, Marana Arizona does show that a phone number is not available. So.......maybe he does wish to maintain a lower profile than I would have expected.

Just a quick update, when I was picking up my BJ60 two weeks ago Tim said he was getting out of the business. He has sold a lot of vehicles, parts, etc., in the last three months since I first looked at my truck. That doesn't mean he doesn't have what you want. I would say he's more likely to have mechanical parts at this point rather than body panels or interior parts. Of course with his collection it may be a little while before he's out but he's getting close.

I just thought I'd share because his place was not what I'd expected given the reputation that preceded him. Maybe 3 or 4 partially parted out trucks and the rest of the parts were on shelves, axles lined up in the yard, several frames in another part of the property. Not your typical parts yard.

He's a very nice and honorable man though. A wealth of LC information.
