Well, Tom and I should be heading up there Wednesday evening or so. Anyone who is coming from out of town/state are more than welcome to crash here Tuesday night, or Sunday/Monday night. We have plenty of room and couches and room to park your rig/trailer or work on your junk if need be.

we're about 2.5 hours or so from loon.

Jack,

I have no clue what our schedule is going to be like. I've heard rumors that we might drive all day on Wed. to the springs. I'm just planning on showing up and just going with the flow. If we can hike back and see some action I'm all for doing that. I can't haul in the little motorized back up transportation. We are going to be full. So the hiking boots will have to suffice or drive back. We'll see when we get there.

This is a huge adventure for me. I'm picking Henry up in Reno Tuesday night. Then our run leaves early Wed. AM. Out Sat. night so he can catch his flight at 6:30 AM Sunday morning and then I pick Ginger up at the airport in Reno about noon on Sunday. Vacaville, then the coast, Pismo, SOR, and finally Legoland in Carlsbad. And whatever else we can find along the way. I'm planning a drive down Hollyweird Blvd. and Rodeo drive and on the way home the Strip in Vegas. I want a photo of the Cruiser with the Cowboy Neon sign. So we are doing on and off road adventures. Then from Vegas we are running two tracks back to Idaho on part of the Border to Border route. I figured it out and at current gas prices we should spend about $1200 on fuel.

Over 10 years of planning to get to this trip. I guess I should be thankful I didn't get a new job and I didn't get to CM this year as that as what made it all possible. This is the 4th time I've registered for Rubithon, but the first time I'll be there.

For having a rig that I thought was ready I sure am doing a lot of work. New rear quarter protection, new swingout on the rear bumper, gears, and new hoses. Oh and I have to get a chip fixed in the windshield.

Are you gettin LukeZero in Reno as well ?

That is the plan right now. I'm going to bring my big dive bag in case we have to throw stuff on the roof temporarily. I don't worry about me so much on the late night and early morning (I usually pull in to CM at 2-3AM and am ready to wheel by 7AM because of excitement) but I'm a little concerned about having a cranky little guy. But he can sleep anywhere so I imagine he'll sleep the whole trip up to Loon. We will see how it goes, we may take up shelter in SLT Tuesday night and get an early start. One last shower might be nice. It might wake us up a bit.

if the little guy gets cranky- I'll roof it in the dive bag:grinpimp: Or maybe you were referring to me as the "little guy".:idea: j/k. I'm keeping my stuff to a minimum in a backpack, so that could be strapped to the roof if necessary.

thanks for the transport. Luke

Luke, PM me a list of what you like to drink, what lunch meat you like, bread, etc. so I can plan and pack food that will keep us happy and fat. I usually go with roast beef, ham , sausage, eggs , prime rib, potato/mac salad, sourdough, chips, OJ, milk, pepsi, fosters in a can , fruit punch, asparagus, corn. What beer are you likin ?

This s*** is creepin up on us..........

I'm not a real heavy eater (although you'd not guess that by my gut) I'll eat everything you listed. Fosters is alright, dark beers are better, but I'm not in much position to be picky. About the only thing I really don't care for food wise is olives. And if its really stinkin' hot- there's not much better than a REALLY cold Busch Light or Bud Light. I'm planning on bringing a small camping hammock, in case the weather is nice and the mosquitoes aren't too thick, but otherwise I'm still planning to use your one man tent. Counting down the days.

19 to go!

PS. I've been really liking Dos Equis Amber and Heineken dark recently, but I don't think they have either in cans.

I think we can fit a sixer of one of those for ya. The 1 man is yours. I will test it prior to loading so no suprises. The skeets are not to bad at night , mostly early am and all evening. I usually am so dusty and dirty they pass me by. We will have hot showers at camp and the arb fridge so it shoul dbe a real easy trip. I pack tarps and rope so in any situation we got cover/wind break/rain shelter. I am used to it raining hard at rubithon.
You can drive a 40 , right ?

I'll drive anything anyone will let me:cool:

Once I get there- I'll tell you about the time I went to BMW driving school with the new 335i, twin turbo sedans (I only put it in the gravel trap once):censor:

Hi all,

my name is Marc and it seems that I am the only European which is stupid enough to bring his own truck to the states for Rubithon.

First I like to thank Peter for his help organising a lot of things for me on this adventure!

Second I like to wish you the best to get your rigs running until the event!
My preparation time has passed by since about 3weeks when the truck moved on the ship from Bremerhaven/ Germany to Port Hueneme CA.

We (my wife and me) have modified tons of things on our 94 Turbo Diesel 4Runner for our wedding trip of 6weeks through CA, NV, AZ, UT,... Most of the mods we did to help the old Runner be ready for you on the Wednesday Wagon run which we'll be part of! We can't wait the day we will meet you all! Hopefully we will not be bad prepped for it!

If possible we would like to meet you on Tuesday at the camp site jsuthey rented at Ice house!
Please let me know if possible?

Our 4Runner is stuffed with everything for six weeks so our storage is nearly full but the space we have left will be there to carry other maniacs stuff! Maybe yours Peter?

I think I will fill the beer in my 20gallon aux fuel cell!

Below is a pic of our Grocery getter shortly before departure! Only the 150pound roof tent is missing on it!

DAMN ! Cant wait to jump in that Airplane!!

Good looking rocker panels on that Hilux 4Runner. They may not look like that in a few weeks! See you there.

Speaking of which, do you need a CB radio for that truck? I have a couple of spares and a spare antenna.

@cruiserdrew
Oh I forgot to list: I also added front skid and rock sliders after I made the picture!

Do you think CB is necessary? At the moment I only have an Hilift and a personal toilet with me!

@Peter,
see you Thursday??

@Pismojim,
this videos made me sure I have some some changes to do on the Runner!
Three months ago it was IFS,33BFG AT, no lockers and only 2" lifted! "My wifes daily driver."

See you,
Marc

He, he, I was trying to explain this trip to my boss, who is a non-wheeler...started with the whole legendary status of the Rubicon trail, then the history of the TLCA, my own 12-yr cross-Atlantic membership, then got into Rubithon itself, people coming from 20 different states, Canada, France, Germany, Venezuela, and closed with Marc's rig being shipped out from Germany....by the end, he was looking at me slack-jawed, like I was part of some insane tribe....little does he know! :grinpimp:

I can't explain how much I am looking forward to this trip, I don't expect to do much sleeping the week before or during the event! :beer::beer:
