Contrast MRI of my right shoulder, the contrast is injected into the joint space and should be contained within. I'm not a radiologist or Orthopedic surgeon, yet, I'm pretty sure I've got a bit of an issue. My layman's read is I have a SLAP tear, maybe a Bankhart lesion along with some other inflamation of some rotator cuff tendons. Official read Mon am, thanks to my contacts, I'll have some good hands on me.

Means 4-6 weeks immobile, yee M-F'er haw...:bang:

Another view, can see the tear on the front of the humerous where I put the cursor arrow...

In any event, I didn't want to chime in, usually, just by openly committing to the trip I will probably cause oil prices to hit a new high this summer and/or my 80 will be struck by lightning, and/or the 45 will need one piece of unobtainium the week before the trip...

Looks like my summer plans changed after today's MRI, unless I can find a way to get it fixed and rehab while finishing the 80 prep to go.

Oh well, life's rough, get a helmet...

Damnit Jerry.... You knew better than to go opening your mouth :bang:

Sorry Dude. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. Let us know if we can help wrench on the 80 if the body says its a go.

Yup, went and F'ed myself again.

Seeing the Ortho Mon am to discuss plans, options, etc, etc, etc...

In theory, if I got everything done before surgery, have surgery the day after the last day of school, I could be a passenger and let Regina drive the 80 while I'm in an immobilization brace...:hhmm:

Man o man, sorry to hear about this Jerry. To echo Jason, make sure to let us know if you need help with anything!!!

Definitely, since I owe you a few(lots) of hours of wrenching time for your winch and rear carrier help....

I can't imagine being in a immobilization brace while riding on the Rubicon! I would have to be knocked out on pain killers to attempt that. :censor:

Thanks guys, its what I get for thinking I'm younger than I am. I can't say for sure, I just know it happened sometime when I was horking those friggen XZL's around when I mounted them on the 80.

Once I get the rear axle finished, the t-case converted, I'll beg for a day to help swap them. I'm strongly considering doing the e-locker/air conversion on the axles. I'll have the OBA, have a tank ready for install, just have to plumb/run wires to use the existing harness.

Regardless, meet with Ortho Surgeon Mon AM to get the real story...

Final follow up to end the hijack...

Met with the Ortho today, (former head of Orthopedics Fellowship Sports Med at West Point, retired Colonel, I'd guess he saw a lot in his 24 years of service, I'm good with him working on my shoulder) used the term "looks like a bomb went off in there", nice. Yet, nothing I've not known for years, many old injuries have manifested into one nice need of a shoulder rebuild.

Bottom line, 2 ~50% partial tears (supraspinatus, subscapularis) and subluxed long head biceps tendon complete tear along with other "game day decisions" related to the labrum, needing arthro & open surgery, more than likely. As I like to strive for, if I do something, I like to do it well.

Post surgery, 4-6 weeks in a shoulder immobilizer, up to 3 months in/out of it, 6 month goal = 80% strength. Positive prognosis, no reason to not heal to 100% as long as I do the work, or, the truth is, not do anything in those first weeks.

The MD was surprised how stable my shoulder is now, its because I've tried rehab for the past 6 weeks with my UNC Student Athletic Trainers I have assigned to me. Yet, it still keeps me up at night and I know that I could wait and screw it up throwing 10g gatorade coolers around.

Moral of the story...end result of decades old damage, neglected causing a long term breakdown. Glad thus far, not arthritic. To the younglings...take care of your shoulder sooner than later, as demonstrated by my example. In my case, its about the complications created by the subscapularis rehab, can't extend elbow from side (abduction) for 8 weeks, no tension on biceps tendon for 6 weeks. And, the artwork on the left shoulder will become compromised...:crybaby:
