You need a permit for a fire along the trail. No need in the springs, as that is private property.

Only one person in the group has to have the permit. You need it for Cmapfire or Charcoal briquettes. Not needed for propane stoves

That is way cool....how and when?

They will probably do it Friday or Saturday, when the majority of people are in camp. Last time they did it was Saturday. Whatever the charge, it's worth it. Bring cash.

Remember the Owners follow the forest on FIRE. If restrictions are up, no fires in Rubicon Springs. There would be one main fire most likely right in camp.

you can be cited on private property during restrictions. Also, Kevin will give you the boot if he finds a fire.

I expect the restrictions to go up before a just after the 4th so we should...........be OK

Rides will be on Saturday at 10AM.

Scott

I'm throwing down the gauntlet at the springs either fri or sat if anyone wants to come out. Nothing oficial just a free for crawl if you will.

I'm ready! Built a fresh Crawler just for Rubi'08! CYA on da rocks!

Rob, FWIW Ian and Ryan had a FIASCO with bottles two years ago. The shaking ruined EVERYTHING in that icechest.

Others may disagree, but for me it will be beer in cans, whisky and rum in bottles.

That sounds awesome Jack. Not sure if any of us will be there in time as most of us are leaving Denver area Monday, arriving at Robb's Tuesday afternoon. I will post this up on our forum and see if there is any takers.... Most of our group is Rubi virgins and I think Andy has them scarred poopless....I would hate to burst their bubble and let them see it's just a nice Sunday drive on a Kalifornia country road! ;):lol::lol:

Two words:

NIGHT RUN !!!

I'm stoked you guys are making the trip. I can wait to see y'all (I missed a few of you at CM)

BTW, you guys know that we all write our 'Mud screen names on our foreheads, right? (Sharpie works best.)

:grinpimp:

Hey Rising Sun Guys-----For maximum fun, here is an alternative route from Reno. Take the Truckee-Tahoe City route to Tahoma, leave your trailer at the Rubicon exit staging area and drive into the Springs either Monday pm or Tuesday morning. You can then run the trail backwards on Tuesday either with Mudrak or me. That would put you at Robbs Tuesday night via the BEST possible route -- the Rubicon Trail. And your trailer would be waiting for you in Tahoma at the end of the week.

Thats what (wife & I)are planning to do. I guess i need to know where exactly the exit is ? How long does it take to get to the springs from the exit ? Just trying to judge time frame. Thanks.

I might be game. What would I do about fuel for the return? :grinpimp:

Zoom in on this link. staging ( trailer parking) is about four miles west of Tahoma on the trail. Two hours from staging is a reasonable pace into the Springs.

Pack five or to be safe, ten gallons depending on how much of a fuel hog your rig is (at 7000 feet)

That's assuming a stock tank, with an aux you'd have no problems round tripping the trail.

Rat70Fj, what link ?
Can you get gas somewhere close to the trailhead ? I was hoping to get gas AND an in-n-out burger. :D
