I don’t leave my awning and Tent on my truck all the time. The awning was no biggie because I run a Gamiviti rack and use the receiver type mount so it goes on and off really easy. The tent on the other hand was a PITA to take on and off and required two people and was really sketchy. I found a good solution on Amazon. Got this lift that has a pully system. Mounted it in my shop and now I can take the tent on and off by myself in about 10-15 minutes. Website says the tent weighs about 130 pounds. Pretty sure it’s not that heavy but I opted for the lift with a 200 pound capacity to be on the safe side.

Great topic. IMO, having a good lift system is vital to supporting an RTT. Both for storage, but ease of setup, install, and maintenance for more permanently installed tents.

I have a lighter RTT, GFC Superlite @80lbs, that has lighter requirements for a lift. Was able to repurpose a two kayak lift kit, each rated for 125lbs, or 250lbs total (rating is probably sporty but I'm well under it). Might be more finicky as two independent hoists, but I also found it as a nice advantage to control individual corners to help mount when the car is not exactly under the tent.
