Is there an easier way to get these parking brake shoe retainer clips back on? Been fighting with them for a awhile and getting no where. Trying to hold the pin from the back and then push the front on with the spring is crazy hard. :( Also, Sorry did from phone and didnt get it into one post. Thanks for your time and help.

There's a tool for that. Most auto parts stores have it hanging on a brake parts rack (springs and whatnot). See those big holes on either side of the lug bolts? It fits through that. The tool makes it a snap...

Or you could put a socket on an extension, push that through the hole to compress the spring, turn it from behind until the slot on the wire doodad lines up with the hole in the cap

My only hint is that it helps to have 2 people, one holding the pin from back and the other using both hands to get enough pressure/leverage to compress the spring.

Thanks for the tips, I had to walk away from it to take a break. Im going to try these suggestions. Thanks again. :)

Got around to getting those two clips in thanks for the ideas. But now I can figure out where to put the last two springs. I did some searching, I couldn't find a good picture. The exploded view from the manual doesn't help two much. I think one goes at the bottom and pulls the shoes together and one maybe hooks by the bell crank. Does anyone have a great picture of the parking brake reassembled, or can you point me to a good picture? Thanks again.

And here is the answer (I had to find out the hard way too).....

Do not remove the clips! Leave everything assembled. Toyota's brake shoes have a little slot. You can just slide them out. To re-insert them, I just clamped them together and slid the shoes behind them. Then use a little hook tool to rotate the pin of the rear washer into the hole.

I wish I could take credit for this, but no. Found it here (skip to 3m0s):

This is a great time and aggravation saving tip!
